becoming an aussie sheila: relocation and dislocation
http://blogbloggeria.blogspot.com/2012/07/relocation-and-dislocation.html
Becoming an aussie sheila. Monday, 30 July 2012. This is the first sleepness night I have had since 19th January 2012. Okay, so the previous sentence wasn't 100% true. First of all, I don't think quarter to eleven really counts as a sleepness night. Secondly, it might be more accurate to say that this is the first night that I haven't collapsed into bed only to be woken up by a hungry infant as, for the first time in a long time, it's the chatter in my head that's keeping me up. 31 July 2012 at 13:37.

becoming an aussie sheila: January 2011
http://blogbloggeria.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Becoming an aussie sheila. Monday, 24 January 2011. I am a little excited and a little breathless. I have just received an email informing me that a job I applied for 'is now available'. I'm hoping that this means I get to go to a interview - please keep your fingers crossed for me. The yummy things in the picture are pastizzi. They are, according to Wikipedia, 'the most popular and best known culinary export of Malta' (surely that is opinion rather than fact? Friday, 21 January 2011. Thus far (I am just...

becoming an aussie sheila: February 2011
http://blogbloggeria.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Becoming an aussie sheila. Thursday, 24 February 2011. This is my wee contribution to all those posts I'm seeing featuring tasty things: last night's dinner. It's one of the easiest and tastiest meals I know and it's pretty healthy too! Put the sweet potatoes in the oven at 200 Celsius/centigrade. Crumble feta into a bowl. Squeeze in lime juice (I only used half). Stir and leave so the flavours can make friends. I thought it was funny. How i've been quite anal. And sliced my sweet potato into quarters.

becoming an aussie sheila: March 2011
http://blogbloggeria.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Becoming an aussie sheila. Sunday, 27 March 2011. It's been one of those days. Grey and damp outside and grey and damp inside too. Poor CNN had to mark exams from nine to three and as for me, I don't know. There were tears in the supermarket yesterday (we were having people over for dinner and I had convinced myself they didn't like me) - the slipping of summer into autumn and then winter is not a change I handle well. Are some of the sweetest words I know. Saturday, 26 March 2011. Ministry of food recipe.

becoming an aussie sheila: why blogbloggeria?
http://blogbloggeria.blogspot.com/p/why-blogbloggeria.html
Becoming an aussie sheila. Cafeterias proved so popular that they spawned a huge, if mercifully short-lived, vogue for words of similar form: washeteria, groceteria, cakereria, drugeteria, bobateria (a place where hair was bobbed), beauteria, chocolateria, shaveteria, smoketeria, hardware-ateria, garmenteria, furnitureteria - even casketeria for a funeral home and the somewhat redundant restauranteria.". Bill Bryson, Made in America. It's nice to know that Americans sixty years ago had a similar penchant.

Becoming an aussie sheila. Friday, 28 October 2011. Tuesday, 26th october 2009. Thursday, 27th october 2011. This year and would highly recommend it). Most importantly though, the commitment we made is as strong as ever - and all the more real and powerful for having been lived (some days more graciously than others) over the past two years. Happy anniversary, CNN my buddy and here's to many more to come. And because I'm vain, this the outfit I'm very proud of having pulled together. Do you like my shawl?

becoming an aussie sheila: November 2011
http://blogbloggeria.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Becoming an aussie sheila. Monday, 28 November 2011. One year (and one week). Last Monday was the first anniversary of my arrival in Australia. The photo above was the very first picture I took as a resident. I remember being struck by how everything was so new and clean and bright. It's true what they say in all those 'immigrant experiences' of Australia; there is something about the strength of the light which both intensifies and bleaches at the same time. Sometimes, it is only by leaving that you lea...

becoming an aussie sheila: happy feet
http://blogbloggeria.blogspot.com/2011/11/happy-feet.html
Becoming an aussie sheila. Friday, 25 November 2011. All my best yoga skillz. To take this picture. One of the best things about having really small feet is being able to buy your socks from the children's department. Especially when they are all fluorescent on the bottom. I wasn't wearing the best pair in the set yesterday because others have hearts and stars and other wonderful things instead of polka dots, but you get the idea. Hurry, only six days left to listen! We'd had the night before. I am sorry...
