year2tastic: Colourful Comprehension Strategy
http://year2tastic.blogspot.com/2015/08/colourful-comprehension-strategy.html
Monday, 3 August 2015. Hey guys how are you? So… I just love teaching reading- I love getting to unlock the world for my littlies don't you? It's such a privilege! Guided Reading and Phonics are my jam but I hate watching my little darlings struggle away when it comes to doing a comprehension test. My children are 6 and 7 but I am confident that this is a strategy which will be useful for much older children too! Discuss from the previous step the kinds of language they might consider positive, negative ...

Room 308: The Class Who Loved Words
http://room3oh8.blogspot.com/2015/02/the-class-who-loved-words.html
Monday, February 16, 2015. The Class Who Loved Words. We're in the middle of two short weeks. Please pray for me! Short weeks seem to last twice as long. So two in a row? It's going to feel like a lifetime! I am revamping the activities for my Word Work center. In addition to Shades of Meaning, I'm introducing 2 new vocabulary activities over the next 3 weeks. I happened across a wonderful bundle of word work activities for big kids by Chalk and Apples. And without further adieu, a peek into my room.

Saturday, October 25, 2014. 2 Months in One Blog Post :). This school year has been hectic to say the least. Between lesson planning, data analysis, conferences, more data, and lots of weddings, I have seriously slacked on my blog. I don't even know if I have many readers, but here is the past few months of my life. Here are some snippets of activities we've done thus far. My students love scoot. So much that my ELA teacher started incorporating it into her editing process. October was a big wedding mont...

Sparkling in Seventh: Lung Capacity
http://sparklinginseventh.blogspot.com/2014/12/lung-capacity.html
Sunday, December 7, 2014. How much air can your lungs hold? This is what my seventh graders investigated on Thursday. They took a deep breath, and blew that one breath into a balloon, measured the diameter, and used a graph to convert CM to L. They loved it! Here are some pictures of my crazy kids, who posed just for you guys! Blowing up his balloon. He wanted to make a funny face. Finding the diameter of the balloon. I am in the process of uploading this to TPT if you want to do this lab.

Fun in Fifth: September 2014
http://funinfifth.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Monday, September 1, 2014. Last week was crazy. For real insane back to school prep craziness. I know you all get that and you know what I am talking about. Teacher workweek is exhausting. There is never enough time in your room and there are always too many meetings. By Thursday I was a walking zombie. By Friday I don't think I could even remember my own name. Loved the sweet note inside from Lindsey. Her school's stationary is so cute too. My box of Burlington was full of so many goodies. School starts...

Today I have three things to ask you. Is technology your friend or foe? Are you savvy or sorrowful about it? Do you embrace it or do you fear it? These are the tough questions that the instructor asked. On the first day of my. After a week of intensive group work, video seminars, and one-on-one tutorials though, I have changed my tune and adjusted my attitude! I listened intently to my instructor's presentations and these wise words. You will not have to make that trek or invest your own hard-earned doll...

Friday, July 17, 2015. PD summer and a new curriculum for this upcoming school year! I am fresh off of a 3 day literacy institute (and professional development) about the new reading and writing curriculum that our district adopted for early childhood. With the 5 day science PD a few weeks ago, this is probably the most (Nope, it actually IS the most.) professional development I've done in the summer in the history of my career. I can honestly say that both were great calls! I'd love to hear from you!
