Places to Eat and Drink. Places to Visit Around Us. The local town of Forcalquier ( www.forcalquier.com. Is built around the slopes of a steep conical hill, crowned by an octagonal chapel, Notre Dame de Provence, where the medieval citadel once stood. Forcalquier is near the centre of the Provence lavender industry and in early July the plateau of Valensole is just lavender fields as far as the eye can see. Nearby we have the factory shops of the now famous L’Occitiane and Terre D’Oc.
