Let's Talk Turkey: Answers to my dad's questions
http://lets-talk-turkey.blogspot.com/2009/02/answers-to-my-dads-questions.html
Thoughts on being an exchange student in Turkey. Tuesday, February 24, 2009. Answers to my dad's questions. I figure I might as well strike while the iron is hot and respond to the multitude of questions posed by my dad. How observant religiously are mainstream Antalyans? Are there muezzin in the towers? What Muslim beliefs are honored and observed, and which are not? Most people don’t pray at all. I can’t stress enough the fact that Turkey is secular, and most definitely not Arab. 8221; and “konic...

Let's Talk Turkey: September 2008
http://lets-talk-turkey.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Thoughts on being an exchange student in Turkey. Friday, September 26, 2008. It’s been far too long since I last wrote, I’m afraid. I’ve come to realize that writing a blog is extremely difficult. Of course, this is true of any writing. It’s not the physical act of writing that’s difficult, at least not for me. It’s the preparation and self-motivation that is problematic. Tuesday, September 16, 2008. All in all, I guess I’m just waiting for the other shoe to drop. It’s only been two days,...I’m wri...

Thoughts on being an exchange student in Turkey. Wednesday, May 20, 2009. Belated post, can't think of a title. It’s full up! 8221; It’s doubly funny, because saying “it’s full up! The Kurds make up, probably, about 20% of Turkey’s population. Some of them live in large cities like Istanbul, Izmir, and Ankara, and are highly successful. Many, however, still live in very rural and undeveloped areas in the southeast of Turkey. I’m happy to try my best to answer any other questions. Yes, I am familiar with ...

I want to give a special thanks to those who supported me throughout my year abroad and als...

Friday, May 22, 2009. Bu Yıl Nardeyse Bitti D=. So I procrastinated writing this blog entry because last week I had two other exchange students living at my house for a week. A group of fellow AFSers from all over Turkey decided to visit İstanbul over the weekend so I had no time to write. So to those waiting for me back home, I'll see you soon and I miss you too. Let's Talk Turkey
Thoughts on being an exchange student in Turkey. Wednesday, June 24, 2009. It's been, what? Partly because of the money, although I have money and financial self-control is not one of my strong points. I've worked since my freshman year of high school and I've never really had to deal with living on a budget - the money always came in faster than I could spend it, especially when I was constantly getting handouts from my parents. Anyways, why didn't I travel? Wednesday, May 20, 2009. It’s full up! Norway...
