Let's go fly a kite. A blog about craft, life, managing a day job, and being a mummy. Sunday, June 14, 2015. Late this afternoon, Lily returned from her first Girl Guide summer campout at Camp Samac. It was the first time she slept in a tent, started her own fire, and cooked her own food on open flame. She had a great time. She has had a successful year at Girl Guides and collected many badges for her sash. Here is a close up of a few of the badges from the 1950-60s that belonged to my aunt. I was able t...

http://letsgoflyakiteuptothehighestheight.blogspot.com/p/contributors.html
Let's go fly a kite. A blog about craft, life, managing a day job, and being a mummy. I am a mum to two daughters, age 6 and 3. I also hold down a day job as a litigator. In my spare time, I like to make crafty messes with my kids and the odd sewing project. I started this little blog in January 2010 as a place to document our crafty adventures. I have many creative friends and family who inspire me daily and sometimes I post about their projects. And combining art and literacy. Thanks for stopping by!

Matthew Zadow's opera blog. The adventures of an itinerant baritone -. Thursday, 23 October 2014. The November 11th concert at St. Andrew's is also taking shape. I have already rehearsed twice with the pianist, and last week had a rehearsal also with the 'cellist, and our material should be fine. The senior choir has started preparing its pieces as well, and two Eleanor Daley anthems will be part of the programme: In Remembrance. Excerpted from Daley's Requiem. And In Flanders Fields. This past weekend w...

Matthew Zadow's opera blog. The adventures of an itinerant baritone -. Monday, 29 September 2014. Thirty days hath September. September has been a very busy month, and in some ways I can't quite believe that it is already passed. All that activity is wonderful but also quite draining. somehow for me the long grey cold winter that followed these autumn months would pull all the liveliness and energy out of me so that I would often be running on empty by the time spring finally rolled around. Some accompan...

Matthew Zadow's opera blog. The adventures of an itinerant baritone -. Thursday, 25 June 2015. Blogcrastination episode IV: A New Hope. Trying to wake up the top of my voice at the 9am rehearsal. Part Four: Bach and Father's Day. The concert at the Eglise des Minimes turned out to be quite a big success. I ended up bring Malcolm along as well, because his flute teacher was performing the famous BWV 1067 Orchestral suite #2 in B-minor, with a fantastic flute solo part. Duet with soprano Bepke Keersmaekers.
ikat bag: Smoooooooth Waistbands
http://www.ikatbag.com/2011/01/smoooooooth-waistbands.html
Sunday, January 30, 2011. At your request, here's the tutorial on how to make the waistband of the pants in the last post. This is not a tutorial for the pants. I recently saw a similar tutorial on someone's blog that inspired me to try waistbands like these. I made one adaptation to that tutorial: in Steps 1 and 2, I sewed both the elastic and fabric loops closed before. Assembling the waistband. I did this because I like to hide all my seam allowances if I can. It is on The Mother Huddle! You will need...

The Pickled Herring: January 2015
http://the-pickled-herring.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 26, 2015. I feel like Ryan and I have had some really good food lately and I just wanted to make a list of things so I don't forget them. Sorry this post will be boring and sans pictures. This past weekend we ate at the Pie Hole. We also walked to this Italian restaurant in our neighborhood called Spumante. We've walked by it many times in the almost 4 years we've lived in our neighborhood, but always forgot to go back to it. I'm so glad we tried it out because it is so good! Was so good&...

Attitude versus Gratitude | Soaring With Eagles
https://soaringwiththeeagles.wordpress.com/2011/05/24/attitude-versus-gratitude
But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles…… ISA 40:31. Stop Flapping and Soar Like an Eagle. Ingratitude – the Source of all Our Sin? May 24, 2011. Most of us would never consider ourselves ungrateful individuals, but how many of us are truly living in the fullness of joy that Christ promised to believers? I, for one, have some room to grow in this department! Do we thank God for what He has given us in whatever season we’re in? Could it be that when we...

Thursday, August 21, 2014. Ryan and I just got back from a whirlwind trip to Chicago! We were there for exactly 24 hours. Red-eye flight on Friday, followed by sister-hangout-time, followed by an awesome wedding, then trip back to the airport to catch our 5:00 AM flight back home on Sunday. Phew. We. Are. Tired. But we had so much fun! Got to have some sister hangout time! It was so good to see her sweet face. And then got to see these crazy kids! We also got to play some bocce ball! What was I thinking?

Let's Go Fly a Kite
Let's Go Fly a Kite. A blog for King's College English PGCE students to share ideas and lesson plans. Wednesday, December 29, 2010. Using peer assessment to teach PEE to a Year 9 class. I chose work with easily identifiable mistakes that many in the class were making, and made sure to choose work of varying standards. 2I then asked the students to explai...
