Why aren't we talking about Tibet?

Why aren't we talking about Tibet? April 22, 2014. It was on the 10th March 1959 that 300,000 angry Tibetans surrounded the Potala Palce. They wanted to protect the Dalai Lama from Chinese officials, for they feared, in the year of the Tibetan uprising. He would be kidnapped. In their masses they camped round the perimeter of his residences, keeping a watchful eye over their leader. A week later he escaped. To India. He hasn’t returned since. The roof of the world. Why aren't we talking about Tibet? In order to understand the current political situation in Tibet it is important to know some background, for the history of the area is fundamental to the present lives of the Tibetan people. A peace treaty was signed between China and Tibet after 200 years of conflict over border regions. Tibet was established as independent with its own territory. In 1717 the Dzungar Monguls invaded Tibet. The Qing Emperor sent troops and crushed them in 1720, then, taking advanta...

About | Why aren't we talking about Tibet?

https://letstalkabouttibet.wordpress.com/about

Why aren't we talking about Tibet? I travelled to Tibet in 2013. It took me months to work out how to word this, and even now there is so much more information that I want to give, for one blog is not enough to define such a place as Tibet. Tibetan people are living in an occupation of their own land. They are faced with Chinese military every day, they are deprived of basic human rights, there children are deprived of an education about their culture and there, as it stands, is no hope for the future.
