Survey Question: Who was your advisor? Posted by Urology IUSM. My advisor was Dr. Cain (peds uro). He is a great person with a good breadth of knowledge. I picked him because he seemed like someone I could talk with openly. He also has good exposure to other programs. I recommend him highly. There may be some advantage to having Koch, Bihrle, or Foster as Advisors since they have a lot of influence on the residency app process. I took an easy rotation, radiology, in June thinking it would give me time to study up on urology topics. Then I took my Sub-I in July and did an away rotation in August. Now I'm not sure if that was the best order. Since I wanted to stay at IU I think I would have been better off doing my away rotation before my IU rotation. Emory—variety (VA, county hospital, university hospital, 2 children’s hospitals); not malignant. Duke—well rounded program; good operative volume and good research. Top-heavy.
