A journey through grief. As much as I wanted to write a nice letter tonight, I can’t. I’m really down, and sad, and I feel horrible inside. Defeated. I guess part of me is just feeling like I’m never going to get the things I want so badly in this life. This is silly really, and I just need some rest, or some peace, some quiet. A journey through grief. My heart doesn’t break nearly as much daily as it did when you first left us. I feel I should say I”m sorry for that, but I’m not. Because you raised me to be strong, and handle life, no matter what comes my way. I learned that by watching you, you know. But some days…. I smell something…. And a flood of memories comes rushing back, or a deep hole of loss opens up inside me and I can barely breathe, because the reality sets in again, that you are gone. I miss you, so much Ma.

A journey through grief. Someone sang a song tonight at open mic, a familiar one. I loved going through part of my life thinking that song was really truly all about me, written for me, sung for me, by Neil Diamond. Even though my crush at that time was Tiny Tim, I believe. I remember feeling crushed when I finally realized he did not write that song for me. Then crushed again when I found out many years later, who he did write that song for. I feel special every time I hear it. I love you, Ma Carol.
