Sunday, April 24, 2011. Pain At The Pump. What is going on at the pumps? Gas prices are ridiculous! They have skyrocketed nearly 28% over last year. In some places in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area, they have gone up to $5.00 a gallon! President Obama stated that we are going to make sure that nobody is taking advantage of American consumers for their own short term gain. He also announced forming a task force led by the Justice Department to determine if gas prices are spiking because of fraud.
