How Cold Is It? – Plying Through Life

Travel Stories and Other Adventures. South Pacific Region Photos. How Cold Is It? December 12, 2016. January 21, 2017. It was so cold, the politicians had their hands in their own pockets. It was so cold in Beverly Hills even folks without Botox couldn’t move their faces. 8220;It’s coooold! Was it more than just cold air pooling around our feet on a winter night? I could claim to be inured to the cold. After all, I did much of my growing up in Minnesota, a land where the depths of winter can drop to ...

I guess we all have our fear factors, and yes indeed, I’d rather sway on a high bridge than bounce up and down on waves out of sight of the shore! Liked by 1 person.

It’s Written In The Stars! | Snapshots, Snippets and Scribbles
https://snapshotssnippetsandscribbles.wordpress.com/2016/12/20/its-written-in-the-stars
Snapshots, Snippets and Scribbles. It’s Written In The Stars! Today is going to be a great day! I know this because an astrologer from AstroCenter told me so! Laugh all you want, but those folks are never wrong. The accuracy of their predictions can, at times, be downright creepy, especially when they are super specific, like the day they told me my sewing machine was going to break. Well… to my shock and amazement, someone “attractive and attentive” kinda sorta crashed the meeting! December 20, 2016.

May 2016 – Truth

TO A COUNTRY LOST IN THE MOUNTAINS. Listen, Learn, Love. A Journey Solely Centered Around the Discovery of Others. I’m sixteen, young, adventurous and filled with a deep interest in the lives and cultures of others, particularly those in Asia. My journey of self, and worldly discovery began when I was enticed by the magnificent idea of travelling to India to teach Tibetan monks English; oblivious that Tibetans formed part of an ethnicity separate from those I was aware of. My companions and I were looked...

The Shaman – Plying Through Life
https://daveplyadventures.wordpress.com/2016/10/25/the-shaman
Travel Stories and Other Adventures. South Pacific Region Photos. October 25, 2016. We each held three coca leaves in our left hand. The shaman approached, and gave us each his blessing as we blew three times on the leaves. It was the most nondescript of places, a plain, dimly lit room in the basement of a hotel, empty except for chairs. Our group had come to meet with a shaman, a Peruvian mystic versed in rituals and spiritual beliefs going back to the time of the Incas. We were present for a Despacho.

A Tail of Woe – Plying Through Life

Travel Stories and Other Adventures. South Pacific Region Photos. A Tail of Woe. October 20, 2016. I apologize in advance for this story of woe. I will however, talk about a side effect that none of you can deny dealing with – the common fart. They ate local food that hadn’t been properly prepared, stood upwind in battle, hoisted their rears and fired off volleys. Why do you think they had to wear armor? You may wonder about the photo of the tortured water bottle leading off this post. That was the r...

Travel Stories and Other Adventures. South Pacific Region Photos. October 17, 2016. October 17, 2016. The feeling was surreal. If you tell someone you’re going to Peru, they will say “oh, so you’re going to Machu Picchu? Still, on the Day of the Visit, once we boarded the train and made our way up the Sacred Valley towards the site, the “are we actually doing this? 8221; feeling set in. Right up to the time we got to the ruins it didn’t seem real. Click on photos for better resolution. Without context, I...

Whine or Wine? – Plying Through Life
https://daveplyadventures.wordpress.com/2016/12/05/whine-or-wine
Travel Stories and Other Adventures. South Pacific Region Photos. December 5, 2016. December 5, 2016. November in the Pacific NW can be a lovely time – fall colors abound, the air smells of the fresh mulch of fallen leaves, and a mere hike around the neighborhood can be an adventure. But it can also be wet. Soggy even. What can you do when it’s so gray and gloomy even the sky is crying? A sign for Blossom Hill. We joy in our hearts we made the turn, drove on a quarter mile and…. Beyond the barricades, wh...
