Summer 2015: Day 91. I'm calling summer, right here, right now. Three events today are driving my decision. Surely, I'm going to appreciate the summer of 2015 more and more in the coming days, weeks, months, and years. That's just not going to happen tonight. Friday, August 21, 2015. Summer 2015, Day 90. Summer 2015: days 37-38. Yesterday, I volunteered to help Ben's baseball league with a Cal Ripken tournament it was hosting. I worked the scoreboard in the heat. I liked doing it, but wow, was it hot. That's why the quick jump in the pool was nice tonight. Sunday, June 28, 2015. Summer 2015: days 30-36. All that opti...

Michael on his first day of kindergarten, September 2009. We've reached our OC midpoint. Michael before entering school for his first day of kindergarten. That's Ben in the orange shirt in the background. The one thing: The time they are kids is finite, and it goes by way too damn fast. Every dinner. Every b...

The Summer Project: Don't mess with my girlfriend (1995). In 1995, we saw Pearl Jam and Hootie and the Blowfish on the Summefest main stage, and I think we saw the BoDeans as well (and Lori may have seen Bonnie Raitt without me). I'm looking through the list of acts from the side stages that year. And who we didn't.

Summer 2014, days 71-85: A time of acceptance. That grand plan I had to squeeze as much out of the last weeks of summer as possible? Yeah, it didn't get too far. Ben is doing postseason swim practices. Michael did six days of basketball boot camp followed by two intense days of get-back-into-shape camp. My sister an...

The Summer Project: Trains for one (2005). The video was old Thomas episodes from the 1980s, when George Carlin narrated and the production was awesomely low tech. Those episodes used real model trains, which was so appealing to Michael. The stories were perfectly paced for toddlers. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
