Our next stop after the sea-lions was for koala viewing. There were plenty of koalas to view and there was actually some activity to watch, one koala changed trees, another was nibbling on the tender young gum leaves and yet another was looking down at us. Remarkable Rocks

A cluster of huge, weather sculptured granite boulders perched on a granite dome that swoops 75 metres to the sea. We stopped at a nearby lookout to view the rocks from a distance. As you can see the following rocks are also formed of granite. This group was just across from the Remarkable Rocks, but of course are not as remarkable as the Remarkable Rocks. You may think that we didn't have time for food on this tour, but we did! In fact we had a very civilised barbecue. Chicken kebabs, rissoles and sausages from the barbecue with a range of fresh salads, bread and butter and a good selection of South Australian wines, even one from Kangaroo Island. Fur Seals

New-Zealand Fur Seals and the Admiral's Arch. Amazing fauna next to a geological fantasia. We spied the seals on the path down to the Arch. They were sunning themselves on the rock platform and swimming in the rock pools. Their coat colours camouflaged well against the rocks as you will see from the following photographs. Travel - Australia - Kangaroo Island
When we visited Adelaide in October 2000, it was suggested we visit Kangaroo Island. It is the third largest island off the coast of Australia. We booked a Wildlife Day Tour with Sealink. This tour took us by coach from Adelaide to Cape Jervis to catch the ferry across to Penneshaw. We were exceptionally lucky as it was a clear blue sky and an ideal temperature. Go to top of page.
