Thursday, January 27, 2011. The first six words in Linda’s article are to make sure the reader knows that whatever she may discuss in the nest few paragraphs she still believes that we should think before we speak. She wants us to know that to be civil to those around you is still important. Her best argument is that in changing one work we can alter what the author meant and/or can get in the way of the readers understanding. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Without speech no one would be able to get their poin across to someone. I agree with this as Ive learned that speech is a much better method of communication than illustrating or acting out. The Daily Thought: To be civil, Or not to be civil; That is the question
http://gahlau.blogspot.com/2011/01/to-be-civil-or-not-to-be-civil-that-is.html
Thursday, January 27, 2011. To be civil, Or not to be civil; That is the question. The first six words of the article "Civility in public discourse is important" immediately reveals Chavez's opinion. Clearly stating your opinion is the first step in writing good literary works. She is "taking a shot" at the over sensitive people who blame uncivil language as the reason for the shooting in Tucson. Thursday, January 27, 2011. Sticks and Stones may Break my Bones, but Words will never Hurt…well in some Cases they might…. Linda Chavez begins her article with those 6 words to let us know that she thinks respect in a public setting is important. She wanted us to know that so she could explain the civility of some words and if they are respectful or not.
