Wednesday, May 18, 2011. Changing addresses, web address that is. Over the years my portfolio has been organized in a multitude of ways. I've had several hard copies including but not limited to: photographic color slides, 11x14 prints bound in a leather binder, an old fashioned zip drive accompanied by computer print outs and complete with a thumbnail contact sheet and captions and of course a simple folder burned to a CD for ease of use and delivery! Not to mention that it can. Be pretty darn easy!

Wednesday, December 29, 2010. A handmade Christmas for Mom. Back in September I had the great. Idea to make a quilt for my Mom as a Christmas present. I was struck by a flurry of inspiration and apparently a bout of amnesia, blocking the memories from my previous quilt making endeavors. Hey, it's September, that's plenty of time to sew a quilt from scratch and with no pattern, right? The short answer to that is yes, plenty of time for stitch ripping and cursing up a storm! Links to this post. Juliana had...

Tuesday, November 30, 2010. Travel: D.C. for the Holidays. Somehow I racked up over a hundred hours of vacation at work. With the year winding down, I figured it was time to commit to a trip. So I booked a ticket and flew out to spend the Thanksgiving weekend visiting my friend Emily in Washington D.C. Along with Emily's parents and boyfriend Adam, we checked out a few of the must-sees in the area starting with George Washington's digs, Mt. Vernon. Some of the animals (yes a camel! Right in the middle.

Wednesday, April 20, 2011. Iggy Pop and the Stooges - The Michigan Theater. Last night I was afforded the opportunity to photograph a rock legend. Iggy Pop, along with the Stooges, played a sold-out tribute show for the late Ron Asheton. The Stooges' original guitarist. It was a homecoming for Iggy, as the original group formed in Ann Arbor in 1967. ROCK show. The venue, the crowd, the energy and most definitely the performance combined and it was the real deal. Friday, March 25, 2011. Multnomah Falls - Portland, Oregon. When my recent adventure in Portland led to a visit to the Multnomah Falls I found myself breathing deep, literally, a breath of fresh air! Having just survived a cold and snowy Michigan winter, the sight of anything green was enough to send me into photographic overdrive! The benefit of that is a super, earthy-green blog post full of photos! Adam shows off his best ninja in a cave expression. March 25, 2011 at 11:18 PM. Love the waterfalls work.

Friday, January 14, 2011. Two weeks in review. Where have the last two weeks gone? One minute it's Christmas and the next we are half way through January! Since the last few weeks have flown by, I thought I'd give a mass update of the stuff I've been shooting for AnnArbor.com. Let's start with where I began the new year, in Jacksonville, Florida for the Gator Bowl. It was nice to leave the snow and cold of Michigan for a few days! My favorite photo from the trip. But I don't have any photos of beer, so p...

Melanie Maxwell I Photo Blog: Music Monday. And Tuesday
http://melaniemaxwellphoto.blogspot.com/2011/04/music-monday-and-tuesday.html
Wednesday, April 6, 2011. Music Monday. And Tuesday. It's been a musical week, and yes, it's only Wednesday! Up until Monday night I hadn't shot a concert in awhile but then the entertainment desk came a knockin'. They served up rapper Wiz Khalifa and singer songwriter Kina Grannis. Related only because they are both musical artists, these two couldn't be more different. I'm talking opposite ends of the spectrum different. Wiz Khalifa played for a sold-out crowd at the Eastern Michigan Convocation Center.
