Dick Allen, Contributing Woodcarver. Field Trips for Students and Campers. Back to the Home page. Ick Allen has always been fascinated by birds and started carving about 25 years ago. He is self-taught through books and carving magazines, with “lots of trial and error”. His carvings have been given to friends and family; some have been donated to charity. Many are on display in his home. Dick considers himself an advanced amateur, and greatly admires Bob Spears’ work.

Directions, Fees and Hours. Field Trips for Students and Campers. Back to the Home page. Most visitors find 1½ to 2 hours is a good amount of time to fully enjoy the bird carvings, art exhibit, and other displays within the Museum building. We suggest first-time visitors watch an 8-minute introductory video. We have restrooms, a gift shop, and small refreshments as well. May 1 - October 31. 10 am - 4 pm. November 1 - April 30. Open in winter by appointment. Child: $3.50 (3-17). The Weather Here Today.

Field Trips for Students and Campers. Back to the Home page. Volunteers are essential to the day-to-day operation of the museum. We have tasks suited to all sorts of interests and for different levels of experience. Practice an old skill or learn a new one. Our youngest volunteers are under ten years old and our oldest are—well, never mind. All you need is a little time and a willingness to share it with us. Maintain a butterfly gardens. Maintain the feeder area garden. Assist with monthly monitoring walk.

Ownstairs at the main entrance is a loon family that took 850 hours to carve and paint. Follow the hall into two Wetland Dioramas, a Spring Migration scene and an Autumn Migration scene, both still in progress. This part of the collection holds more 63 ducks and shorebirds. We took it apart and still couldn't sort it out; it went off to StarDot, got repaired and it is now back online. While it was offline, we put in a slideshow. Of course, there was no reason to take that slideshow off, so . we didn't. Click on the pic to advance to the next one, or let it cycle.
