Friday, June 10, 2011. An adapted version of the song "Roxanne" was used in the film "Moulin Rouge! But it was originally written by The Police in 1977. "Roxanne" was inspired by the prostitutes Sting saw near his hotel in Paris but the title was named after the lead female role in the play Cyrano de Bergerac.
