Libeau Descendants Society Inc. The society of the descendants that arrived on Banks Peninsula, on the first ship from France in 1840. The Libeau Descendents Inc is based in Canterbury with members mostly in New Zealand and France. There are approximately 3,500 descendants in New Zealand with around 30 in France. The society was founded in 1994. The chairperson is Patricia Stoneman with a committee of fifteen. Patron of the society is the French Honorary Consul of Christchurch. A Comte de Paris.
