Artifice | art exhibitions, scholarship, trends and news from around the web: Google Art Project launch
http://artifice-art.blogspot.com/2011/02/google-art-project-launch.html
Tuesday, February 1, 2011. Google Art Project launch. Just a quick heads-up: Google launched its brand-new Art Project today. In collaboration with some of the world's premier museums (including the Frick Collection, MoMA and the Uffizi Gallery, among several others), you can take a Google Street View-style walk around parts of each museum, and select from a list of works available to view individually at high-res and with pretty sweet zoom capabilities. Sorry everyone for being so late on the new posts. Finals were KILLER! Anyways, I had a great finals, great Christmas, great New Years, and today is my 21st birthday! Time to get crunk. I’m going to Rouge Tomate (1 star Michelin) tonight and I’ll be sure to rate it. But first, post a soup of my invention that was up in the running for Thanksgiving Soups. BTW, this is dedicated to my BF’s sister, Amy! Anyways, this is a creamy, delicious soup! 2 tbl butter (salted). 1 1/2 cup sunchoke (rubbed of skins).

Artifice | art exhibitions, scholarship, trends and news from around the web: Speaking of Picasso...
http://artifice-art.blogspot.com/2010/04/speaking-of-picasso.html
Wednesday, April 28, 2010. Tatiana Khan, a Los Angeles art dealer, has plead guilty. To federal charges alleging that she commissioned a fake Picasso and then sold it as an original. Khan apparently paid an art restorer $1,000 to copy Picasso's 1902 pastel, Woman in the Blue Hat. I wonder if the art restorer knew that she planned to sell the copy? What reputable art restorers take on copy work for their clients? Definitely an interesting case of art crime and intrigue. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Artifice | art exhibitions, scholarship, trends and news from around the web: Paris Museum of Modern Art Heist
http://artifice-art.blogspot.com/2010/05/paris-museum-of-modern-art-heist.html
Thursday, May 20, 2010. Paris Museum of Modern Art Heist. This morning: The Paris Museum of Modern Art was robbed last night by a single intruder, who removed 5 major works from their frames. He appears to have broken in by disabling the security system, cutting through a padlock and then entering through a broken window. The night guards apparently heard and saw nothing, because the man escaped with a million euros worth of stolen art:. Le pigeon aux petits-pois. A Cubist oil painting by Pablo Picasso.

Easy Vegetarian Frittata | missellaneouschef
https://missellaneouschef.wordpress.com/2011/02/02/easy-vegetarian-frittata
I love frittatas. They’re these super yummy, crustless quiche-like things that you can have in almost any flavor. I usually do this one with bacon but, I really wanted to make a frittata this weekend and we were out of bacon! Instead, this one is mirepoix. 2 tablespoons milk (any type). 1 onion, finely diced. 1 large russet potato, diced into half-inch cubes and put into cold water immediately after dicing. 1 large rib of celery, diced. 1 large carrot, diced. Set oven to 400 degrees farenheit. Address ne...

Buddakan NYC Review | missellaneouschef
https://missellaneouschef.wordpress.com/2010/11/20/buddakan-nyc-review
Last night, my boyfriend and I went on a double date to Buddakan NYC. These were the dishes my boyfriend and I ordered for ourselves. The first three are appetizers/dim sum, the black pepper beef is an entree, and we each had a China rose tea for dessert. Both the edamame dumplings and the hoisin pork belly were AMAZING! The dumplings were especially delicious – om nom nom, I’ve continued to crave them continuously since last night! Overall rating: Decor 5/5; Service 4/5; Food 4/5; Cost $ $ /$ $ $. Email...

Rotisserie Chicken Brunch Croquettes | missellaneouschef
https://missellaneouschef.wordpress.com/2010/11/20/rotisserie-chicken-brunch-croquette
Rotisserie Chicken Brunch Croquettes. Sorry – long time no post. Don’t worry though – since this coming week is Thanksgiving, I will be cooking up a storm! Here’s a little recipe I made today for brunch using whatever we happened to have leftover – however, it would be awesome for any meal. It’s more similar in texture to a crab cake than anything else. Shredded thigh, leg, and wing meat from a whole rotisserie chicken. 1/3 – 1/2 cup light mayonnaise. 1 tbl spicy mustard. 1 tsp apple cider vinegar. Let s...

Artifice | art exhibitions, scholarship, trends and news from around the web: August 2009
http://artifice-art.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 3, 2009. How do we "look" at art today? I just had to blog this. I've often been struck by the urge to "collect" pictures of pictures. As if taking a picture of the Mona Lisa or Starry Night means that you earn some amount of invisible art points for having been to the museum it resides in, pushed your way to the front of the crowd, and snapped a badly-lit, off-center digital photograph of it. What do you think? How do you look at art? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). A CUP OF JO.

Artifice | art exhibitions, scholarship, trends and news from around the web: Medieval Bones
http://artifice-art.blogspot.com/2010/05/medieval-bones.html
Friday, May 7, 2010. This isn't art related so much as it's just "cool medieval stuff," but hey, it's Friday! Workers in Gloucester, England found the skeletons of two people laid side by side in the middle of digging up a road in the city . The County Council's archaeology service has determined that the skeletons, and the remains of a coffin found nearby, are medieval. As an aside, St. Kyneburgh was a 7th century abbess (find out more about her life here. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). A CUP OF JO.
