Custard Pies | mypiary
https://mypiary.com/category/custard-pies
A slice of the sweet life. Category Archives: Custard Pies. Miss Petunia’s Grits Pie. January 12, 2012. I discovered Paula Deen’s recipe for Grits Pie. Four years ago while searching for a birthday cake alternative for my grits-lovin’ lover. Never did I imagine such a thing existed, let alone tasted so magically delicious. It was the only pie I had ever baked before starting MyPiary. I have baked this pie with my dear friend Daniel. Miss Petunia’s Grits Pie. Cup old fashioned grits. Cup half and half.

A slice of the sweet life. Dark Chocolate Mocha Pie. December 31, 2011. I also call this my Epiphany Pie because I realized that I can just start making this stuff up and it will come out delicious. Baking is indeed a science, but once you understand the equations, you have the freedom to play around in the lab without fear of explosions. It is a great feeling. And serve. No baking time necessary. Dark Chocolate Mocha Pie (Epiphany Pie). Cup unsweetened dark cocoa powder. 1 heaping tbs espresso powder.
Peanut Butter Pie | mypiary
https://mypiary.com/2012/01/17/peanut-butter-pie
A slice of the sweet life. January 17, 2012. Peanut Butter is a popular pie for potlucks. It is a pretty simple icebox pie that even non-bakers can whip up in no time. I have never been a fan of peanut butter pies (or potlucks, for that matter) because they are usually cloyingly sweet or too salty. I blame the cloyingly sweet part on the usage of Cool Whip. I just don’t get Cool Whip. (I don’t get Miracle Whip. Either, but that’s another story. I am not a choosy mom, but I still choose Jif. 5 tbs butter,...

A slice of the sweet life. January 11, 2012. I am willing to take a few risks. For example, my friend over at Forgotten Bookmarks. Recently shared with me a recipe he found for Prune Meringue Pie. That is just crazy enough for me to try. It also leaves me craving more crazy pie recipes. Do you have any unusual pie recipes to share? Please post a comment or e-mail them to mypiary@gmail.com. I will give you proper credit if I bake your crazy pie. 2/3 cup brown sugar. 1 tbs lemon juice. 1/2 cup brown sugar.
Strawberry Shortcake Pie | mypiary
https://mypiary.com/2012/03/24/strawberry-shortcake-pie
A slice of the sweet life. March 24, 2012. Strawberries are cheap and plentiful right now, so I am taking advantage of the Florida berries while I can. I was very pleased with my Baked Strawberry Pie. But wanted to put my own twist on Martha Stewart’s Strawberry Icebox Pie. I also wanted cream cheese in the pie, because it is so darn tasty. I was going to use shortbread cookies for the crust, hence the shortcake inspiration, but then I found Golden Oreo cookies on sale at Publix. Yum. 3 tbs butter, melted.

A slice of the sweet life. Category Archives: Fruit Pies. Late to the Pi Party. March 19, 2012. Those who live in colder climes tend to think of strawberries as a sign of summer. Living in Florida means finding local strawberries. From December to April, and we are peaking right about now. Oh, yeah. Spring is in the air and strawberries are everywhere. Aren’t we lucky? One of the first pies I made when I started this project was a Strawberry Icebox Pie. I just used a standard fruit pie recipe. Spoon into...

And now you know...
And now you know. Thoughts from a mind filled with useless knowledge. Monday, March 9, 2015. I have been at the Jackson County Public Library for exactly one year tomorrow! It has been a great year full of new things and new people, some things stressful, some things amazing, but mostly wonderful. I want to tell you about one particularly delightful thing that happened this year. I didn't play that day but, since they were the only ones in the room at that time, I did talk to his Grandmother a bit. Then ...
