Library 2.0 Tutorial Blog. Supporting learning for SAIT Library staff. Tuesday, February 05, 2008. Discussion Forum - Summary 3. We covered a lot of ground during this discussion. We started by viewing the slide show of pictures staff had posted to Flickr. Lots of great images. With more to come, I am sure. Many staff liked the idea of using Flickr for sharing and back up. Its utility as a place to put photos as you travel, you can reach it anywhere there is internet access, was also discussed. Or RAW...

Library 2.0 Tutorial Blog. Supporting learning for SAIT Library staff. Thursday, March 13, 2008. Discussion Forum - Summary 8. Our final discussion cover the Podcasting and YouTube exercises. Both Kat and Kristian stated that, with some exceptions, they are not fans of podcasting. Kat questioned why you would simple tell your audience about something, when the internet is visual medium; why not show them? It was noted that often recordings of presentations are not as engaging being live at that event.

I think youtube could be good for some training sessions and information sessions - just like so many others, you need to know your audience and content - and make sure the presenters are good presenters! I can see how creating these can take out some of the extraneous crud that just doesn't fit, but it really limits the perspective, opinions and options. But it's still nice to finally know what this is. I've heard about it, but never knew what it was. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

And that I like! I've been using Wikis since 2004, when my now husband got me hooked on Wikipedia. Article featured article status, which was really neat. Yes, I am truly a geek. (But my husband is more of one, he created his own Wiki about Calgary). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Just roaming through the dusty, wild frontier of a somewhat neglected archival collection. View my complete profile. Wednesday, March 5, 2008. I think a talk on illuminated Byzantine manuscripts is best broadcast with pictures! Especially, when it comes to presentations with visual omponents. If all you want is a passable copy of a presentation, is it really that much harder to just point a camera at the screen? March 10, 2008 at 9:38 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

I'm so in love with Google and their wonderful applications like Gmail, GoogleDocs and GoogleMaps - I'm almost afraid that I'll find out one day that they're poisoning small children and dogs and then I'll have to stop using all the wonderful stuff they create! And other things. I'm hooked on the juggernaut that is Google.

Just roaming through the dusty, wild frontier of a somewhat neglected archival collection. View my complete profile. Wednesday, March 5, 2008. Took a quick look at a few of the tools - none of them really caught my eye - Cover Pop made me queasy and uneasy - the linear thinker in me just can't stand books out of order! Wetpaint would be useful for wiki development - I find the learning curve for Wikis to be a bit high at first - fonts, bolding, underlining, photos - all require some rather intimidating c...

Okay YouTube is funny, can't argue that. Vid was a bit dry, but an excellent resource for interested parties. Was a nice trailer for something that will probably not get alot of theatre time. I really like embedded video so YouTube as a service gets a thumbs up from me. Podcasting is lame. Do you like talk radio?
