Library Lady's 23 Things. A School Librarian tries to enter the 21st century. Thursday, January 13, 2011. Can You Hear Me? Voice in Effective Blogs. I confess- I am a regular reader of the blog Zen Habits. I find the voice and the tone of its writer, Leo Babauta. On a typical school day, peace and tranquility are not typically around. But when a post shows up on Zen Habits, I take the time to read it and to find a window of calm in my day. Such words are good reminders to teachers of all sorts. While the...

Library Lady's 23 Things. A School Librarian tries to enter the 21st century. Friday, October 8, 2010. Well, I have attempted to upload SMART Board lessons directly to the blog, but was unable to. So instead, I am going to keep a running list of the lessons I have created in the Side Bar. If you are a media teacher and are interested in using any of these lessons, based on their titles, you can contact me and I will happily share. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Library Lady's 23 Things: July 2009

Library Lady's 23 Things. A School Librarian tries to enter the 21st century. Saturday, July 25, 2009. For those of you who have read my work here, you know that I also struggle with writing poetry as well. This summer an acquaintance died by her own hand, and I wrote this poem to help me figure out my thoughts about it all. The Inchworm and the Heron. On my son’s shoulder sat the inchworm,. Having hitched a ride into the sanctuary. I gently coaxed it. Onto a Torah cover,. To bide its time. I must confes...

The Library Lady Rants
Wednesday, February 21, 2018. How can you be gone 4 years already? In the days before Facebook and Skype and cell phones how did you manage my being gone and 150 miles away? It boggles my mind, truthfully. I've got a new assistant who I love, a boss who is still a Type A loon who really shouldn't be a manager at all because he is NOT a people person but a total introvert(! I miss you and Daddy every day, Mom. I know I always will. But you're both still with me forever. Links to this post. The sky held ti...

Library Lady's List
Friday, February 17, 2012. In memory of Gina. Today I'm writing to honor my tatting friend Gina, who died earlier this week. Gina and I became friends via the Internet and her Yahoo Groups list, Tatting Goddess Updates. I'm not at all a prolific blogger but a lot of tatters and lacemakers are. After we heard about Gina's passing, a suggestion was made to blog today about Gina and what she meant to us. And nobody did. While I was so envious that I'd missed out on the fun, I didn't think my lace making...

Story Time With the Library Lady
Friday, September 29, 2017. The Lessons of Dr Seuss. There is a librarian in the news right now for rejecting a set of Dr Seuss books that the Squatter in the White House's wife donated to her school. And clearly, she is making her move to be a celebrity and perhaps get a "Mover and Shaker" award from ALA. But for the most part, she is an idiot who represents the worst in current librarianship. But her view, that Dr Seuss is a perfect example of the Squatter's base's sort of viewpoint, is utter bullshit.
