Quick Housekeeping Note | LibraryStream

https://librarystream.wordpress.com/2009/01/13/quick-housekeeping-note

Watching the flow of the participatory library. About the “Learn More” series. I haven’t blogged for a few months. Why not? My library has been going through growing pains and reorganizations for the last year or more. Despite several successes, some of the social web tools I’ve advocated these last several years have been very slow to get management’s approval (or priority) amid all the other changes. Regrettably, that has forced my focus on other things. Feed You can leave a response. From your own site.

Watching the flow of the participatory library. About the “Learn More” series. I just felt like tinkering with a variation on READ posters. I loved this author’s first book. And was reading this one when I met him at ALA. This entry was posted on Sunday, July 27th, 2008 at 5:31 pm and is filed under books. You can follow any responses to this entry through the RSS 2.0. At Play in the Fields of Ideas: the wave of the present, part deux

http://datamuse.blogspot.com/2009/08/wave-of-present-part-deux.html

At Play in the Fields of Ideas. Thursday, August 13, 2009. The wave of the present, part deux. This morning's Inside Higher Ed brings the news that starting in 2011, current University of California Press journals. Will be available via JSTOR along with the backfile. The article mentions the Ithaka report from 2007 that libraries have to get more involved with scholarly publishing. I'm inclined to agree, but we also need to recognize that small libraries like mine have limited capacity to do that.

At Play in the Fields of Ideas: April 2009

http://datamuse.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

At Play in the Fields of Ideas. Thursday, April 23, 2009. I just added you to my ALA membership renewal for the first time last month. For, I might add, a pretty penny. (Although ALA's maddeningly useless membership renewal confirmation does not tell me how much I actually paid for the package deal. Dear ALA: some of us itemize our tax returns. What kind of receipt doesn't include an amount paid? THIS is the ALA division chiefly concerned with technology in libraries? I'm still waiting to be impressed.

At Play in the Fields of Ideas: a brief thought on the 80/20 rule

http://datamuse.blogspot.com/2009/08/brief-thought-on-8020-rule.html

At Play in the Fields of Ideas. Wednesday, August 26, 2009. A brief thought on the 80/20 rule. From Inside Higher Ed doesn't specifically mention information resources, but it got me thinking about a study I read earlier this year about Wikipedia being around 80% right in a given subject area. If that's true, it's another potential data point explaining why traditional reference sources are getting spanked. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Library Student Diaries | Reflections and ramblings from a part-time postgraduate student

Reflections and ramblings from a part-time postgraduate student. Public libraries – more than ‘just’ books. April 16, 2016. What a silly title for a blog post. Books are never ‘just’ books. Books are one of the best things in the world, if you ask me. And my parents would have gone bankrupt, had they had to buy all the books I took out from the public library as a kid. And yet, public libraries offer so much more than ‘just’ books. 1 There is the Reading Well Books on Prescription scheme. This is a schem...
