Raven: Water Water Everywhere…No, literally everywhere | My Floating World
https://libraryunderworld.wordpress.com/2015/04/03/raven-water-water-everywhere-no-literally-everywhere
On a ponderous path through orderly chaos. Raven: Water Water Everywhere…No, literally everywhere. April 3, 2015 in busy busy busy. It’s been a little while since I’ve updated. There’s been plenty going on, both with the boat and in life in general and some of it was getting in the way of little things like updating the blog. One thing we’ve been battling this winter/fall is humidity. We run a dehumidifier that does a great job of sucking water out of the air and clearing the windows. But days off from w...
Raven: On the Hard | My Floating World
https://libraryunderworld.wordpress.com/2015/05/21/raven-on-the-hard
On a ponderous path through orderly chaos. Raven: On the Hard. May 21, 2015 in Geeky. Raven was hauled out this last weekend, so Chris and I stayed in an Air BnB in a nearby neighborhood. It was nice to have a shower close at hand, but the bed was a bit small for the two of us. I finally got the ripped or degraded sections of the bright work covers mended. I ended up doing them by hand, as it was all a little too tough for my machine. Where I’ve Been. What I Talked About. Children's chapter book. You are...
Running from the Rain | My Floating World
https://libraryunderworld.wordpress.com/2015/02/05/running-from-the-rain
On a ponderous path through orderly chaos. Running from the Rain. February 5, 2015 in sicky. Chris and I are running away from this wet weather for a weekend getaway. When I went to get our bags out from under our bed this morning, I found this:. Raven was previously moored in California and isn’t adapting well to our damp climate. I’m not sure that’s something we can fix, but we are certainly going to try. If you have any advice, please do comment. Where I’ve Been. What I Talked About. You are commentin...
Arrrrg! Computers…. | My Floating World
https://libraryunderworld.wordpress.com/2015/07/31/arrrrg-computers
On a ponderous path through orderly chaos. July 31, 2015 in Grrrr. This morning I sat down to finally chronicle our two week sailing excursion to Canada and the San Juan Islands. But…my computer was freezing and being annoying. This has been happening a lot over the last few weeks. So, I restarted again and limped online and bought a Toshiba 13″ Chromebook which will be here tomorrow. Where I’ve Been. What I Talked About. Children's chapter book. Snakes, Foxes, and Penguins. Distractions and Happy Bikiness | My Floating World

On a ponderous path through orderly chaos. Distractions and Happy Bikiness. May 9, 2015 in Blissed. When she was young. The view I will always remember. Since then, I’ve been buried in work, helping plan out trainings for my peers that will pave the way for Teen Service Learning in our library system. It’s ambitious and I’m excited to see how it will work out for us and our teen patrons. There were more people below deck! Here’s the bike when I went to pick up swag for my team. Where I’ve Been. A Common Thread: The Value of Dissent | Musings
https://anankaf.wordpress.com/2011/09/13/a-common-thread-the-value-of-dissent
A little bit more professional. A Common Thread: The Value of Dissent. Asymp; 1 Comment. All of the chapters and articles I’ve been reading over the last month have had good advice to managers new and experienced. Don’t take things personally. Listen to your employees. Keep track of what works and what doesn’t so that a mistake is not repeated. Then a coworker posted a link to an article in the New York Times. Larr; Previous post. Next post →. Thought on “A Common Thread: The Value of Dissent”.
Informational Interview: Regional Manager | Musings

A little bit more professional. Informational Interview: Regional Manager. Asymp; Leave a comment. During the same change that bumped the Assistant Manager from my last pos. I was not surprised that my previous Branch Manager was chosen to be one of them. He is one of those managers that inspires and motivates. He’s organized, communicates well and creates a team out of a gaggle of individuals. One of the things my library system does very well is hire talent as well as skill. When he got his posting, he...

A little bit more professional. Asymp; Leave a comment. My mentor asked me how I connected the chapter was from Managing Children’s Services in the Public Library. And Meredith’s post titled Be the Change You Want to See. What I was hoping to show in my last post. In the mean time, I will continue read and comment on articles recommended by my mentor and talk about training provided by the city and the library system. Larr; Previous post. Next post →. Coping with a full plate | Musings
https://anankaf.wordpress.com/2011/11/23/coping-with-a-full-plate
A little bit more professional. Coping with a full plate. Asymp; 1 Comment. When I first found out that I would be taking on both of these new projects, I was a little worried. I’m close to full capacity with instruction, collection maintenance, teen advisory group, mentor program, training and other duties. I mostly oversee another person creating our instruction schedule now, but there are still new classes to be designed and hiccups that happen and need my attention. Larr; Previous post.
Informational Interview: Assistant Manager | Musings
https://anankaf.wordpress.com/2011/11/04/informational-interview-assistant-manager
A little bit more professional. Informational Interview: Assistant Manager. Asymp; 2 Comments. I chose to interview her because of her unique ascent (descent? Into her role and because she is a single parent (as am I) and I was wondering what it was like for her to balance work and home life. I have also admired how calmly and confidently she transitioned into the position. Larr; Previous post. Next post →. Thoughts on “Informational Interview: Assistant Manager”. A little bit more professional. What I learned from a Ted Talk. Asymp; Leave a comment. Sometimes we want to buy what people are selling us, though. Like Real Change–there’s some good info and stories in there. There’s still something off putting about having someone standing outside of a store trying to get me to buy a paper. I have to force myself to think about it or else I will pass it by. When I interviewed the AM. This also reminds me of the interview I went on and on about. Itay does not mention d...

My Spinning World | On a ponderous path through orderly chaos
On a ponderous path through orderly chaos. The Difference a Floor Makes. October 21, 2016 in Hopeful. I finally have a floor, and it’s a seriously nice floor. There are a few uneven spots due to the unevenness of the old concrete floor and the large crack that ran through it, but the flooring adapts to it well, and hopefully will continue to.
