Exploring the history and future of a semi-derelict wing of the Callan Workhouse. Workhouse Assembly includes over thirty participants, with backgrounds in architecture, art, heritage, geography, photography, writing and conservation. Between July 31st and August 11th, LiD Architecture. Ran daily workshops to make a tapestried map of the local area, and artist Gareth Kennedy. Worked with a group to make a lime render to coat part of the workhouse’s interior.

In 2012 the Commonage Summer School was focused on ideas of accessibility and the politics of making. A small cowshed and hayloft was designed and built through a workshop led by ‘ The Cowshed Collective. The completed cowshed is situated in the yard of Westcourt Farm on the outskirts of Callan, Co. Kilkenny. At ground level there is a space for a cow and a calf. Above is an airy hayloft. The roof of the cowshed is designed to channel and collect rainwater. Lime rendering demonstrations by Edward Byrne.

Friday, December 3, 2010. Irish building of the year 2009. The RIAI Irish Architecture Awards 2009 are taking place and you have until Sunday to submit your vote for the People's Choice Award. There are 35 buildings to choose from, I haven't quite decided which is my favourite yet, but my shortlist is as follows:. This is an insertion into St Georges and St Thomass Church by Clancy Moore architects. So unusual to see such a project these days. This is a café/bar on Deal Pier by Niall McLaughlin Architects.

Received her MA in Geography from NUI Galway in 2011. She focuses on research in the field and on human geography. Is from Tullow in Co. Carlow.
