Life Takes Guts: That Is Good News, Right?
http://life-takes-guts.blogspot.com/2012/06/that-is-good-news-right.html
I have Ulcerative Colitis, but I refuse to let it have me. Sunday, June 24, 2012. That Is Good News, Right? Sorry for the delay in updating about the scopes. I did have my upper and lower endoscopies done. This was after much drama and interrogation of every single medical person who came within my line of vision after they handed me a consent form for a colonoscopy! I asked the nurse, "Did they tell him I don't have a colon? He can't stick a regular colonoscopy scope on there! Well, yes and no. I starte...

I have Ulcerative Colitis, but I refuse to let it have me. Sunday, July 24, 2011. 12 Weeks and Counting. Saturday's long run was another test of the new me and how well I can manage differing conditions and situations with my new guts. Aside from blockages, the greatest threat to someone with an ileostomy. I've been using GuBrew. Tablets in my hand-held water bottle for long runs. They have a higher level of electrolytes than my Powerade. Not cool at all. I did a quick check of things before we left to m...

I have Ulcerative Colitis, but I refuse to let it have me. Tuesday, June 26, 2012. Time to Get Real! Here's an interesting development: all of my tests are normal. My hemoglobin and iron store numbers are now back on the bottom rungs of the "normal" ladder. No celiac disease/gluten insensitivity. Normal liver panel, blood counts, thyroid function, and clotting factors. My B 12 levels are great. Huh. Our operating theory at this point is that I feel like crap because:. The Gutless Cyclist: Indoor base miles.
http://gutlesscyclist.blogspot.com/2014/01/indoor-base-miles.html
This project is about the adventures of a guy who loves to bicycle. I also happen to have Crohn's disease, and later complications from it, which required me to have emergency ileostomy surgery in July of 2009. I'm hoping to show that having guts doesn't require guts! And, that life with a chronic illness can still be pretty awesome, despite the challenges. And maybe, just maybe, in the process I'll make some sense of the happenings of my life. Wednesday, January 1, 2014. Posted by The Gutless Cyclist.

Living Bigger with Colostomy: Links

My ostomy is not as good as the original equipment, but I get to live! Cancer and Colostomy gave me an attitude adjustment. I appreciate life more than before. I do more of what I want, and less of what others think I should do. Early on, I resolved that after surgery I would do everything that I could do before surgery. Since then I have stretched the target, and I now do more than I did before. Three years ago my doctor told me I could have a perfectly normal life with an ostomy. Life With a Pouch.
