A little while back our friends the Wilmarths put on a benefit dinner for Compassion for Congo. Matteus Layton and Brandon Wilmarth had fun with matching ties, with sister Kara Wilmarth. As I watched him joyfully playing in our house this morning, I couldn't imagine a more joyful child or a more different and transformed child than the one I met that day, and I marvel at the grace of God who brought him into our household and who brings us in Christ into His (Eph. 2:19) and who transforms us as well in even greater ways (2 Cor. 5:17). Every night for the past few weeks, we have left our windows cracked open a little and our ears have been on alert, listening for the sirens of our neighborhood fire trucks. Why were we doing this? Because every year Station 82 drives through the streets of our neighborhood with Santa perched on the top of the fire truck. Tonight, while Ellie, Grace, and Katie were still here, we heard the faint siren, followed by by a muffled, "Ho! We love Station 82!

Dec 31, 2009. Day 355, December 18, 2009. One of my girls' favorite celebration days at school is the Christmas parade. It is always on the last day of school before Christmas break. The parents are encouraged to join in the parade and march next to their child through the classrooms. This year was even more exciting because it was Ellie and Grace's first parade. Nov 2, 2009. Day 307, October 31, 2009. Halloween was a blast. The girls saved us a ton of money by wearing some of their dance recital costumes. Reese turned one of Bailey's old tap costumes into a pirate outfit by adding some accessories from Target. She did her famous pose and then asked for a shot of her holding her sword at her scar. She said that it made her look like she cut her arm with the sword. Then they posed with Bella who dressed up as Bella for Halloween :). Day 306, October 30, 2009.
