On the Bike: August 2010
http://lifefromthesaddle.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
A Colavita/Parisi Coffee Cycling team blog. Monday, August 2, 2010. I can't do this anymore. Just hold the wheel in front of you. I can't do this anymore. For a split second my cadence relents, coming out of turn two. In the blink of an eye I'm sitting twenty positions further back. No, don't do it, just keep going. If you keep going the pain will stop. I wish I could, but I can't. I won't. That has defeated me no matter how much I wish for the contrary. Jesus Christ. You came all the way down here, ...
On the Bike: October 2009

A Colavita/Parisi Coffee Cycling team blog. Friday, October 23, 2009. Our old friend the interval. In my pants. The thing seemed to hum with power, simply riding it you could feel the craftsmanship that goes into a pro level frame. Coming in at a respectable 15 lbs., light, and stiff, it is a sweet ride. Married with Ritchey components and Sram gruppo it is definitely the best bike I've ever had. But what about our old friend the interval? Thursday, October 8, 2009. The off season's over.
On the Bike: The Fox and the Hound
http://lifefromthesaddle.blogspot.com/2011/01/fox-and-hound.html
A Colavita/Parisi Coffee Cycling team blog. Sunday, January 23, 2011. The Fox and the Hound. A racer is either a fox or a hound; he is either chased or else chases. In each and every bicycle race there is only one fox and there are many hounds. Without exception, the fox always wins. From the gun, Tilford and his cronies had picked the field apart with relentless attacks, which sent many off the back and allowed only the strongest to follow. The short of it was that the combined race failed tragically.

A Colavita/Parisi Coffee Cycling team blog. Wednesday, July 8, 2009. Bike Snob NYC Unmasked! Our very own Steve V. is the one and only renowned cycling blogger Bikesnob NYC. From the beginning of Steve's postings on his TC/PC blog I noticed that his style of prose was impeccably close to that of BSNYC. Putting the baby to rest, I have amassed irrefutable proof of Steve's alter ego. First is Steve's post. Second is a post. I know. Shocking. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.
On the Bike: February 2010
http://lifefromthesaddle.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
A Colavita/Parisi Coffee Cycling team blog. Friday, February 12, 2010. Introspections on Pre-Season, Early-Season, and Whatever Season You're Not Supposed to Be Winning In. Heck, you're not supposed to be fast in February; that is, if you want to be in May. Stick to the plan, cut weight, and detach emotionally from your pre-goal results. Simple as that. Tomorrow is 3 hours and 15 minutes in the saddle. Nice easy pace, 18 average, don't kick higher than 20. You can do that right? Detach. Cold outside?

The Bonk Memoirs: September 2011
http://thebonkmemoirs.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 22, 2011. Chequamegon 40 recap and picture dump. Earlier in the year I was moderately motivated for this race. But leading up to it and spending lots of time on some sweet singletrack, a road race on MTB didn't seem interesting. However, I was committed and going to see what the hell was going on up there. In retrospect, if I get into the race next year, my bike will be on the start line at 5am to preserve a good spot. Heading out to ride IMBA epic Levis Mound trail. It's a long story.
The Bonk Memoirs: July 2011
http://thebonkmemoirs.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, July 24, 2011. The following week was rough for sure, it's currently been 2 weeks and my back muscles are still tender - but it's pretty good. Spent the past week in Lake Tahoe and San Francisco. Did some riding, not as much as I had hoped. I will say this, I like the road riding around La Crosse, WI better than tahoe. Didn't get to MTB as my back was still acting up. Tomorrow marks the arrival of this recent ebay purchase and new ride:. Wednesday, July 6, 2011. Wheelhouse Classic and CAMBA.
The Bonk Memoirs: olympics - vinokourov

Saturday, July 28, 2012. Dopers shouldn't be allowed to compete in the olympics. End of story. It's a shame that a convicted doper won the gold - it's meaningless now. The Bonk Memoirs: March 2012
http://thebonkmemoirs.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, March 29, 2012. Lets see how much I can remember from the last 4 months? Considering all the above I had a respectable time. Good enough for a wave 4 start next year which is probably where I should be. So on to riding and racing. I'm basically trying to attempt what I wanted to do last summer. Which is simply race a lot of MTB races and have fun. There will be a road race or two thrown in for fitness, but I want to get the epic 29er flying this summer. Really fast. 4/29 Decorah, IA MTB TT.
The Bonk Memoirs: June 2012

Wednesday, June 27, 2012. WORS #5 - Red Flint Firecracker. WORS stop #5 in Eau Claire. This is close as the racing gets to us in La Crosse so it feels like a home course. Jane and I still opted to go up Saturday and pre-ride. She was going to race in the sport category and needed to check out the loop. The course is flat, fast and flowing. The rain earlier in the week made it nice and not dusty or too dry. Only 300 feet of climbing or so per lap. Erik P leading out. Monday, June 18, 2012. Next week is an...

The Bonk Memoirs: WORS - Sunburst Showdown
http://thebonkmemoirs.blogspot.com/2012/07/wors-sunburst-showdown.html
Tuesday, July 24, 2012. WORS - Sunburst Showdown. What a crappy race. Thanks to all the volunteers and people who put it on, but that place had no business being a MTB race. Literally - what a shitty venue. It was wide open on the side of a ski hill. Almost no singletrack and most of it was created by a lawnmower through a grass field. The front view of my chain guide. The inside lost a few mm's of metal and it took 0.5 mm off the top of my chain. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). It's a long story.
The Bonk Memoirs: Subaru Cup (The relegated version)
http://thebonkmemoirs.blogspot.com/2012/08/subaru-cup-relegated-version.html
Sunday, August 19, 2012. Subaru Cup (The relegated version). I've sort of been looking forward to this race all season - I knew it was the midwest regional championship and I wanted to claim that title. Problem was it wasn't available to Cat 2 age groupers which I didn't find out until the day before. Ultimately it's pretty insignificant so whatever. I did run into a few KC folks, namely those of the Ethos team. Maybe I should just take the advice of Garet and CTFU. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Tuesday, October 2, 2012. WORS #11 Bear Paw Rock and Roll. Had the best result I could have hoped for. It was my 2nd time lining up in the Elite field but this time around I was more confident and aggressive. It also helps that the last 10 days on the bike I've been feeling pretty good and have had some good rides as of late. Next week is another race at Levis Trow/Mound. Depending on who shows up, I'm primed to do well in the 25 mile race. Get at me bro. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). It's a long story.
