Life in the Undertow. Monday, December 15, 2014. Just Hold Me Up. Just Hold Me Up. It has been just over a year since my mother died of cancer. She ate dinner with us at Thanksgiving and was rushed to the hospital on Christmas Day. On December 27, 2013 the diagnosis of stage IV mesothelioma was made. Less than two months after her diagnosis, she was gone. She had lost her appetite and in August, her chest cavity kept filling with fluid. To watch someone die is a surreal experience. I described it as ugly.

The same people condemning the government's intrusiveness are the same people who would scream loudest when a terrorist plot against us succeeds. We can't have complete secrecy and complete security at the same time. We're in an era of incredible technology and we need to be guarded. So to those people who cry "Big Brother! Go Ahead. Let em Listen.
