Saturday, May 12, 2007. How to Hide Files and Directories in Linux. In Linux, directories are not accessible until the device is mounted. This is usually done at startup by the mount command which uses the /etc/fstab file. Files that start with a dot "." are hidden, but not completely (you can do ls -a to see the files). Tuesday, September 6, 2011. When trying to install Catalyst on Windows, I noticed some differences between Windows XP and Windows 7 64-bit installation of ActiveState perl. Namely, that dmake, and gcc would not install on the 64-bit version of Windows. Here are some of the problems I had. C: Documents and Settings scottm cpan. Gccexe: Extraneous argument to `- ' option.
