Life in Nairobi National Park: October 2005

http://lifennp.blogspot.com/2005_10_01_archive.html

Life in Nairobi National Park. Tuesday, October 11, 2005. The point is that wild ostrich do not have the space to breed in the wild in areas outside of the park and even if they do lay, eggs are robbed by people. If for no other reason, therefore, but for 'space for ostrich', the NNP should be protected in perpetuity. For further details see www.saveamboseli.net. Posted by kaputie at 12:43 AM. Life in Nairobi National Park: Gnews

http://lifennp.blogspot.com/2005/09/gnews.html

Life in Nairobi National Park. Wednesday, September 28, 2005. Nairobi National Park is located just to the north of Kajiado District, the southern area of which is experiencing a hard drought. This situation extends into the dispersal area for our migratory species -wildebeest, eland and the numerous zebra. In addition to the dry conditions, we have had several years of good rains prior to this year and Maasai livestock has expanded accordingly (the last really dry year was 2000.). Too Valuable to Endure?

Life in Nairobi National Park: August 2005

http://lifennp.blogspot.com/2005_08_01_archive.html

Life in Nairobi National Park. Thursday, August 11, 2005. Syncerus caffer (aka the Cape Buffalo). I have been away in the Maasai Mara for a week, amongst the enormous grunting herds of migrating gnu, so apologies to those of you who like to walk the tawny plains of NNP with me. Back in the Park, the plains are rapidly drying out despite the cool and overcast weather that is typical for this time of year. The Park may be not so good for the lions see www.nairobiparklions.net. That seems almost impossible ...

Life in Nairobi National Park: November 2005

http://lifennp.blogspot.com/2005_11_01_archive.html

Life in Nairobi National Park. Wednesday, November 16, 2005. Cat on a Cold Tin Roof. The Short Rains have come -for a few days - and the dessicated tawny landscape is turning a new shade of green.Sadly this is an illusion, for a few downpours do not a wet-season make. The ungulates seem to sense this and have not, in their usual instinctive way whenever there is serious rain about, made for the borders of the Park as they usually do. It's good to know that these big cats still have space in and around NNP.

Nairobbery - Tales from Kenya:. A commentary on living in the capital of eastern Africa, day to day events and thoughts, and news, of course! Tuesday, April 20, 2004. Reasons not to live in Nairobi, Kenya:. High taxation with no discernible services. Comparatively low pay across the board. Unless you are an expatriate, in which case expect excessive fringe benefits). Pathetic communications and transport infrastructure. Little or no truly inspirational nightlife. Nairobbery - Tales from Kenya:. A commentary on living in the capital of eastern Africa, day to day events and thoughts, and news, of course! Tuesday, February 03, 2004. Well for one thing the Michuki initiative to get the public transport sector into a safer state for commuters has been successful in some ways: Most. Nairobbery - Tales from Kenya:. A commentary on living in the capital of eastern Africa, day to day events and thoughts, and news, of course! Thursday, December 04, 2003. Well a week goes by and the blog sits! It is December, and the reality of no money for x-mas is upon us! So looks like a quiet 4 weeks in Nairobi, the city that gets utterly deserted during the holiday times. Tea and coffe estates border the northern side of the city in the Limuru highlands areas, whereas the Athi plains and the savanna...

Nairobbery - Tales from Kenya:. A commentary on living in the capital of eastern Africa, day to day events and thoughts, and news, of course! Friday, January 09, 2004. Nairobi has been most unlike itself in the past 3 weeks. First and foremost there have been absolutely no gridlock traffic jams - quite the opposite of our usual commuting experiences. It is said that many of Nairobi's residents, when they go on holiday from the city to their rural homes, carry EVERYTHING in their homes! Borana Lodge - Lux...

Nairobbery - Tales from Kenya:. A commentary on living in the capital of eastern Africa, day to day events and thoughts, and news, of course! Wednesday, September 28, 2005. Nairobi will soon be at its prettiest with the blooming flower season already here. Most trees are either already in full bloom or shedding most of their leaves in preaparation for flowering. Jacarandas, avocados, mangos and all manner of indigenous versions are colouring the city's streets. All I can say is. Posted by Jake @ 9:07 am.

A quickie on the weird morals of the USA. There is a game called GTA San Andreas. It is controversial at best, but the latest twist is simply surreal, since it even has Senator Hilary Clinton commenting on it. Killing vs Loving. now where do you stand? I know where I do. Nairobbery - Tales from Kenya:. A commentary on living in the capital of eastern Africa, day to day events and thoughts, and news, of course! Wednesday, September 21, 2005. Get healthy and forget your troubles! With all the noise about the Bananas and Oranges, it is hard to think about the daily troubles we all face: It is a clever political ruse to divert our attention away from poor roads, unruly matatus, increasing fuel prices and stagnant salaries. Can they stick to the facts? Do they really care?
