Welcome to my world: digging, harvesting and other stuff
Blog – Allotment Life
https://lifeonalondonplot.com/blog
Welcome to my world: digging, harvesting and other stuff. A day at Kew. August 14, 2016. August 17, 2016. I think I need a bucket list of places to visit that are within 10 miles of home. The last time I visited Kew, I lived in SE London and it took 2.5 hours and involved the South Circular – enough said. But since moving to Isleworth and being able to see Kew on the opposite river bank, have I visited? Am I season ticket holder? Umm no, and I have no reasons to justify such an oversight. There was a who...
Honeysuckle – Allotment Life
https://lifeonalondonplot.com/2015/06/09/honeysuckle
Welcome to my world: digging, harvesting and other stuff. June 9, 2015. June 7, 2015. I’m really pleased with how the plot is shaping up this year; for the last 3 years I have felt my motivation slipping. The weather, pests and rampant bindweed didn’t help improve my mood. At the start of this year though, something changed. The plot has always my place for solitude and reflection and I really needed some of that in my life. The plot benefited from my attention too. Surrounded by fragrant honeysuckle.

Welcome to my world: digging, harvesting and other stuff. The covers are on. June 1, 2015. May 26, 2015. It’s not just Wimbledon where the covers come out in June! I have a whole array of different covers for different plants to protect against different predators and buggy munchers. Come for a wander and I’ll show you what I use. Then it’s the carrots cosied under the made to measure enviromesh cover (I do love the Harrod Horticultural brochure! Blooming marvellous →. June 1, 2015 at 10:03 pm. Address n...

Welcome to my world: digging, harvesting and other stuff. The plants cost 50p each. Rude not to and so much less faff than cossetting tomato seedlings in the depth of winter. Deciding to grow roses at the plot for the vase was inspired. I’ve fallen in love with paoenies all over again. Varieties are Chris Beardshaw and Chandos Beauty. Chosen for their fragrance. First pick of the year. I spent a week as a postgrad student. Felt very priveleged. Leggy and under attack by the evil mollusc. The most photogr...

Plot 52a – Green Fingerings
https://greenfingerings.wordpress.com/2016/12/08/plot-52a
Horticulture, Gardening, Allotments. This is my new allotment plot. As you can see it requires a lot of work, which is why I’ll be spending most of my time on this plot this winter in an effort to try and get some of it ready in time for spring. I haven’t measured it but it should be roughly equal to a half plot. Here are some photos of the current state of the plot. December 8, 2016. 4 thoughts on “Plot 52a”. December 8, 2016 at 11:29 pm. Looks great. At least the it’s useful junk! Liked by 1 person.
Sorting the shed – Green Fingerings
https://greenfingerings.wordpress.com/2016/12/12/sorting-the-shed
Horticulture, Gardening, Allotments. Last week I sorted the shed out. I took everything out, removed all the bindweed growing in and around it and gave it a good sweep. I found allsorts of stuff in there. Here’s some of the stuff I found that has now been cleaned and oiled. The secateurs are still in good shape and the Japanese sk5 steel blade still has a fairly decent edge to it. This shopping basket will come in handy. I’ve already fitted it to the paniers on my lass’ pushbike. December 12, 2016. Follo...

Olive and Sun dried tomato stuffed Sea-bass. Sea-bass is my favourite fish to play around with recipies. The delicate flavour can be complimented by a number of ingredients. Bouncing Back After Failure | Mel is North

A look inside my sketchbook. Bouncing Back After Failure. Hello all, remember me? I don’t blame if you don’t, it’s been such a long time and writing this post was so hard for me. I think it always is when you know you failed. But learning to come back after failure is one of those important lessons in life. So what happened in the last couple of months? At the end of May I completed my “Make a Splash” challenge to make 50 watercolour paintings. 50 paintings! In less than a month! Yesterday they announced...

The Start of the Allotment Challenge | Brogen Does Food
https://brogendoesfood.wordpress.com/2015/04/11/the-start-of-the-allotment-challenge
Cooking it… and eating it! Published on April 11, 2015. The Start of the Allotment Challenge. What does fresh air, muddy hands, intermittent chats and the overall sense of joy mean to you? To me its stealing time to work on my allotment. Today I took over a neglected allotment (closer to my home in surrey) which looked more like a lawn than a place to grow vegetables. And have committed this weekend to getting the beds grass free, feed, and partitioned for planting next weekend. This entry was posted in:.
Ready, Steady, Grow! – Pam's Yarns
https://pamsyarns.com/2015/06/01/ready-steady-grow
Life, crafts and garden. Ready, Steady, Grow! May was very busy on the allotment front but now feel I can draw a sigh of relief knowing that everything (well, nearly everything) has been planted. There have been times over the last month when I wondered if 2 plots was just over stretching myself! Luckily, up stepped The Husband. The potatoes are looking very healthy – 5 different varieties, including my favourite, Desiree. Potatoes – earthed. Something’s had a little taste! A disappointment along the way...

Life On A Long Roll. May 29, 2012 · 7:20 pm. Double Dinner: The Fresh Grocer Deli Counter. Of course it helps to be hungry when eating huge sandwiches, but there are many, many times in life when the body’s weakness needs to be overcome by the strength of the mind. It’s not like beer or sandwiches occur in nature, so why would I let my own natural tendencies sway my thought process regarding their consumption? Things got messy real quick. Life on a Loom | Weaving and Community in Asheville
Weaving a World of Wisdom and Wonder. My love of weaving has evolved since my mother taught me to weave a bookmark at the age of 10. After college, with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, I bought myself a weaving machine, i.e. a four-harness floor loom, so that I could weave myself a Lithuanian folk costume. When my first child went off to college, I embarked on the the less-mechanical, more intuitive tapestry weaving when I discovered Weaving a Life TM. Now, I lead others on their journey through weaving.
