Thursday, January 10, 2013. 8220;Oh, she’s like Helen Keller! If I had a nickel for every time I have heard that phrase, well… I’d have a lot of nickels. I’ve heard it in elevators, waiting rooms, parking lots, church, the mall, restaurants, you name it! Each time a well-meaning person says this to me, my first thought is, “I wish! Helen Keller with President Eisenho...

I’m always thrilled when one of my boys shows an interest in his sister. It takes an effort to form a bond, create a relationship, or even share a moment with Elise. Lane was almost 2-years-old when his sister was born, and Ty came along when she was 4. Both of the boys hold memories that have always included her. When Lane was about 3-year...

Contentment and the Pink Glitter Shoes. 8220;Oh, look at that beautiful dress! 8220;Her earrings are adorable! And best of all, “Look at those shoes! 8221; “What if she stretches them out? 8221; But, seeing how it might look a little odd for a grown woman to enter into a battle of “MINE! 8221; with a 3-year-old, I reluctantly handed them over.

What could she possibly be smiling about? For the standards that we, as the rest of the world have set, the answer is: Not much. Smiling is a universal form of communication. Most everyone has learned to connect a smile with something good happening. Elise has taught me otherwise. She can’t fake smile. Proverbs 15:30 comes to mind. For the most...

Be Who You Are. Because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind. Wednesday, 30 November 2011. Day Three of CME. It is hard to believe we are half way through our trip already. We woke up to snow flurries and our fingers crossed that it wouldn't get too bad and cause the 401 highway to be backed up. It didn't turn out to be too bad. You can't really see the snow but it was starting to stick to the road. This was the lovely 401 traffic this afternoon! We call this the genie. After supp...

Sunday, December 1, 2013. Christmas Tree Farm Visit. This marked the start of a new Christmas tradition in the Quinlan home! Last summer, I got tired of looking at the artificial trees that still weren't up in the attic from the Christmas before. First, we hopped aboard the hay ride. Once our tree was chopped, a...
