Life Without Grey: Friends (A multimedia extravaganza)

http://www.lifewithoutgrey.blogspot.com/2013/02/friends-multimedia-extravaganza.html

Friends (A multimedia extravaganza). I'd like to start this post with a brief video, which in my mind sums up male friendship. Simple, uncomplicated. BBFC advisory note: the following video contains 1 level 4 swear and 1 level 1 swear and a mild drug reference). This was raised at a recent meeting at the school where they suggested L needs to learn when his friends fights are not his. A social story on this matter may help we felt so we are looking into that at the moment. One suggestion raised by the Ed...

Life Without Grey: July 2012

http://www.lifewithoutgrey.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

That’s odd (Diagnosis Part 1). We surmised that this was just an immaturity thing, that he would develop soon to learn how to play properly and how to control his temper. He certainly wasn’t the only child to have these issues, though I think that the others were definitely plain naughty rather than confused as they were with my angelic L. Hmmm, maybe there is definitely some proud father rose-tinting going on here, but I digress. There are times when you think you are managing things well and getting al...

Life Without Grey: February 2013

http://www.lifewithoutgrey.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html

I have started reading more blogs from other people who are also dealing with Autism in their own special ways. It helps in an immediate way because you pick up helpful tips and techniques that you can apply to your own situation, but it also provides an opportunity to engage in what is probably frowned upon in such circles - comparing your child with theirs. I was reading this relatively new but interesting blog by Julie. L is definitely better at maths than x". I'm sure that with Sauron's eye constantl...

Life Without Grey: The Diagnosis

http://www.lifewithoutgrey.blogspot.com/p/diagnosis.html

In June 2012, aged 6, L was finally diagnosed as being on the autistic spectrum. My feelings at this point were strangely relieved and happy that we had come to a conclusion. Of course, we hadn’t. This is just the start. Or rather, the end of the beginning. So now we had a diagnosis to explain this behaviour and I was, frankly, elated. The answer of course is both. They are intertwined. L is a boy growing up, maturing and living his life and everything he does is as a result of everything he is.

Life Without Guidelines

Wednesday, January 19, 2011. The Start to a Cheesy Chick Flick? Ever since my little mishap with my phone, I have discovered a trick to be able to text. If i flip back the cover really fast around five times in a row, the screen comes up again for about ten seconds. Wooo! Of course it was an older guy dressed in his military uniform. Of course. He literally swept me off my feet and set me down on the sidewalk away from the oncoming bike traffic. Thank you much Mr. Military man, I owe you! Since we're tal...

Life without happy ending

Life without happy ending. Tartten tosi paljon tukea. Voin aijemm...

Living with Hearing Loss | In a world of sound, what it's like to hear none.

Living with Hearing Loss. In a world of sound, what it's like to hear none. February 28, 2010. The whir, the hum, the chitter chatter, the pitter patter of rain. The music, the stairs, the people, animals and things stirring. All these sounds, all of life’s music, there, as it always will be. What are you going to do now? Why is it every time I scream when I hear the silence no one else can hear, my scream never comes out. Has this silence robbed me of my voice? February 11, 2010. So what is an FM system?
