Where did he come from? The new bike rider asks me, without so much as a preamble. I like the foodie types though, so I am not offended. Instead, I am concerned. Isn’t it over there? Too much to write. Divine Food and Cows By The Beach. I have time before my bus leaves in the evening from Panjim. So, I take the bike out again, and just meander down. The sun is a ray of heat on. I dislike this aspect of tourism development. To travel is to seek, not to expect to find. There are pancakes in Vietnam and Laos because that’s what the Western tourists come seeking. I wonder though if we will find soymilk counters in Paris just because Chinese tourists come visiting? Go on Spread the love!

Places – Soul Musings

Too much to write. People, I have realized, love lists. Here’s my own of the countries I have been to and not necessarily in any order. This is the place where it all began. I fell in love with China. Thailand was the first country I went to with my parents. It was also the second country I ever visited. Love the food, and love being ripped off in Bangkok. I have fond memories of landing in Thailand on the exact same day the Tsunami hit. Talk of timing. Chaotic and beautiful – Thailand is a feast. I spen...

Black and White – Soul Musings

Too much to write. Watching the furor over the Salman Khan verdict, I couldn’t help but be bemused. This was a film star I grew up adoring. The one who brought biceps to the big screen. There are discussions all over the Internet. Was he in the right? Was he in the wrong? And if he was wrong, surely, 13 years of leading a ‘good’ life as a ‘good’ human being should be punishment enough for running over people? But as someone said, we are like this only.
