Larr; Stage 16: Pau / Bagnères-de-Luchon. Stage 18: Blagnac / Brive-la-Gaillarde. Stage 17: Bagnères-de-Luchon / Peyragudes. Throughout the Tour I had made a point of not studying the route too closely but there were two climbs that worried me. The first was Mur de Péguère on stage 14 and the other was Port de Balès today. After the awful weather I faced yesterday I was dreading what today might bring. Sponsored by Visual Security Services. Col de Menté 1,349 m. Col des Ares 797 m. Port de Balès 1,755 m.

Larr; Stage 15: Samatan / Pau. Stage 17: Bagnères-de-Luchon / Peyragudes. Stage 16: Pau / Bagnères-de-Luchon. I had been looking forward to today’s stage all Tour. Over the last two weeks I had ridden myself into a good level of fitness and on stage 14 I had found my climbing legs. I was also well rested after a day off the bike yesterday. So it was a big disappointment this morning when I woke up to rain and a sky filled with clouds. Col d’Aubisque 1,710 m. Col du Tourmalet 2,115 m. Col d’Aspin 1,489 m.

Other than the Prologue there were two individual time trials totalling 95 km (59 miles).
