Dr Stelzer started working on confocal fluorescence microscopy in 1983, developed the 4Pi microscope in the early 1990s and shortly afterwards introduced orthogonal and multi-lens detection schemes with theta microscopy. The latter work lead to the development of light-sheet-based fluorescence microscopy. Other contributions include the optical tweezers based photonic force microscope (PFM) and a novel and very successful approach to laser baser cutting devices. Past and current projects. Dr Stelzer's group develops and applies instruments as wells as specimen preparation techniques that allow scientists to observe as well as to manipulate biological specimens efficiently and with high precision or high resolution. Since the early 1990s his long-term interest is to provide a complete set of tools that foster research in the life sciences under physiologically relevant conditions.

Please contact us for scheduling training sessions. Each new user is entitled for two 2-hours training sessions (free of cost) for each instrument. 15/hour for users working with PIs that are: NINDS-funded investigators. 40/hour for all other University Users. 90/hour for all others. 10/hour for users working with PIs that are: NINDS-funded investigators.
