Circle of Quality: October 2012

Saturday, October 27, 2012. Some Thoughts on We Can Create. I'm not a graphic designer, by trade or even by skill, but when my flatmate won tickets to We Can Create. The seminar was absolutely worth it for the first two speakers alone. Sarah Maxey. Creating first and analyzing second was a pivotal message of the morning, and one brought fully into perspective by the even more inspiring duo of Thomas and Martin Poschauko. This is getting remarkably unshort, so: Jonathan Barnbrook. A work in progress.

Benjamin Frederick: Welcome to Weston
http://benjamin-frederick.blogspot.com/2010/07/welcome-to-weston.html
Monday, 5 July 2010. I basically played around with loads of different combinations of words that I could apply this style to, so really anything with an 'and'. Scampi and Lemon, Batman and Robin, Lock Stock and 2 Smoking Barrells. I tried around 90 combinations before I was satisfied with my conclusion. I personally came to the conclusion that the style of the signs was what made them so iconic. No matter what meaningless pairing i applied the style to each one looked great. Benjamin Frederick: August 2010
http://benjamin-frederick.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Thursday, 26 August 2010. So I've sort of neglected this blog of late, had a lot of things going on including setting up a blog for Bake. On top of that I've been pretty busy doing new designs for tees as well as a couple of other small briefs that I've had on the go. One of the finished projects that I have been most happy with was this little logo and branding I've put together for a new Ice Hockey goaltending academy and database. Posted by Benjamin Frederick. Tim Cowie: Truth Movements
http://timcowie.blogspot.com/2009/05/truth-movements.html
TRUTH MOVEMENTS is a short film taken from The Light Surgeons Live Cinema performance TRUE FICTIONS. The film weaves a tangled web of conspiracies theories, divergent views and public oratory from the 5th anniversary of 911 together into a escalating argument about truth. These conflicting opinions are musically scored with a building vibraphone melody, live drums and an Oud solo by Mavrothi Kontanis. This middle eastern instrument points a figure to the US response to these tragic events.
