Like, As If. We live on the ground floor of a classic Brooklyn brownstone. Above us lives an active family of five, or eight if you are counting pets. And I know both that they are active and how many pets they have because we can hear them over our heads. Photograph by Cindy Shaw. September 7, 2010. Follow the Leader ». Do you want to comment? Like, As If. I read somewhere that people who have brown eyes, like me, are supposed to be more resistant to sunlight. They are supposed to be able to go easily without sunglasses: standing deep in baseball fields ready for a pop fly; laying exposed on the decks of boats with no thought of unsightly tan lines; posing uninhibited for outdoor photos. Nature's Own Hand: April 2011
http://naturesownhand.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
A portraiture of teaching, living, and learning. Thursday, April 28, 2011. I would simply be denying my childhood if I let this Royal Wedding go by without mention. I am flooded with memories of being a little girl, where Princess Diana was my definition of beauty and poise and Prince William was my husband to be. California business to take care of. And anyway, we are so much cuter. Wednesday, April 27, 2011. And found myself oohing over the watercolor cover every time I picked it up. Is the Wednesday P...
Nature's Own Hand: March 2011
http://naturesownhand.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
A portraiture of teaching, living, and learning. Wednesday, March 30, 2011. I'm feeling a little nostalgic about home today for various reasons (some of which are secret). Sorry I can't be specific quite yet but when I saw this today I got a huge smile on my face. Because Tad Carpenter (whoever you are), I couldn't agree more. There will be more ramblings on the subject of home in the weeks to come (hence, Part I). Where is "home" for you? What makes it that? Monday, March 28, 2011. Sunday, March 27, 2011.

Don't worry, number two isn't a screaming child. There will be no pregger bellies in this Topanga house for a while. But rather, this beautiful garden is our new labor of love. Color coordinated and everything. I knew I was marrying an artist after all. Carrots, chard, and spinach oh my! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Nature's Own Hand: Good to be home
http://naturesownhand.blogspot.com/2013/04/good-to-be-home.html
A portraiture of teaching, living, and learning. Sunday, April 7, 2013. Good to be home. There is so much more to see! We sighed, as we sat in traffic on the 405 outside of Los Angeles. But then, as we broke out of the streamline of cars onto the PCH and turned off onto our canyon road we both thought, "not a bad place to come back to". So, even though the prospect of teaching tomorrow is daunting (how do I do that again? I can't believe I made that goal! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Like, As If.

A portraiture of teaching, living, and learning. Tuesday, April 2, 2013. A day trip to our southern most point, two missions, and a lot of driving later- we are headed home. A portraiture of teaching, living, and learning. Sunday, March 31, 2013. Today, we ate great food, swam in the ocean, and took one very long and overdue siesta. Nature's Own Hand: September 2011
http://naturesownhand.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
A portraiture of teaching, living, and learning. Wednesday, September 14, 2011. There is very little roughing it going on in the hills of Malibu tonight. However, my students who yesterday were putting on their eye makeup in the middle of my sculpture class are now crowded around a fire, singing songs, and really joyful that they survived the two mile hike up here. Something has to be said for that. I give all credit to the pacific ocean. Well done. Monday, September 5, 2011. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Like, As If. At that moment, before I could imagine who sets a car on fire in the middle of the day on a busy avenue in the middle of a residential neighborhood, a guy walked past me holding up his cell phone. He had clearly recorded the whole thing and was saying to himself over and over, “Let the m*ther f*cker burn! 8221; His callousness snapped me right out of my voyeuristic indulgence and I went quickly through the cloud of debris, around the corner and on to my apartment.
