Like The Bamboo
The title, “Like the Bamboo”, is inspired by the attributes of our father, Meliton, intensely loyal to his principles, yet tolerant and open to reason. Likened to the bamboo, which stands tall and straight yet sways to gentle breeze and bands to strong winds after which returns to be erect again. Methaphorically, meeting life's difficulties head on and yet come out successful in the end. Auntie Chayong was the main author of this memoir. Auntie Cela did a first-pass edit and added/deleted some sections.
