Blasphemies of a Barista: Today's Blasphemy: Gender Roles
http://blasphemiesofabarista.blogspot.com/2014/07/todays-blasphemy-gender-roles.html
Tuesday, July 29, 2014. Today's Blasphemy: Gender Roles. I watched the newish Russel Crowe movie, "Noah" with my Theologian wife, Julie, recently, and was struck by a few things. 1 Whoever animated the Ents in Lord of the Rings. Was obviously commissioned to do the "Watchers" in Noah. Stupid concept of walking rocks (Grignak from Galaxy Quest, anyone? Let me be clear: I DO read the Holy Scriptures, and I DO believe they are inspired by God. AND I think they are BLATANTLY sexist. 2 Read the scriptures wit...

Blasphemies of a Barista: The Coffee Post
http://blasphemiesofabarista.blogspot.com/2011/11/coffee-post.html
Wednesday, November 9, 2011. Here it is: my philosophy on coffee in America. I know you've all been waiting for it. Coffee is a fantastic thing. Like wine, from a single sip you can taste the soil and climate of the region in which it is grown. and unlike wine, you can drink it in the morning without feeling guilty! Companies like Folgers capitalize on offering the cheapest coffee out there. They don't need quality. They just need quantity. So, where do you fit in to all this? Can you come in a few weeks...

Blasphemies of a Barista: June 2013
http://blasphemiesofabarista.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html
Thursday, June 13, 2013. Not sure what time zone I'm in. I mean, I don't think it changed my life (at least not yet), but it definitely scratched that "travel itch" that has been plaguing me for awhile. You know, that itch that says: "this place feels too small! You gotta go get OUT there! So Julie and I flew through Italy, France, and Spain- just really digging into the food, culture, and people. It would have been nice to have more time, but by the end we were pretty dang BEAT! Links to this post.

Blasphemies of a Barista: March 2015
http://blasphemiesofabarista.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 8, 2015. Today was exhausting. But the good kind. The kind that when you finally get to sit down and take in all that happened, you feel satisfaction, not desperation. There was a song that I loved to sing when I was a worship leader. The bridge goes:. You're all I want. You're all I need. And as much as I loved to sing this at the top of my lungs I realize now that I wasn't actually singing this song to God. I was singing this song to my FEELING of God. Yawn What can be gained by it? REAL ...

Blasphemies of a Barista: January 2013
http://blasphemiesofabarista.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Thursday, January 31, 2013. Julie and I have chickens. They hang out in the backyard, clucking and scratching and pooping and laying eggs much as you may have heard chickens do. Julie actually has them trained to come running out to her every time she sees them and eat out of her hand. Change can happen suddenly, of course, but in this case, change happens. Blasphemies of a Barista: "Hierarchy is the skeleton of the church"
http://blasphemiesofabarista.blogspot.com/2011/09/hierarchy-is-skeleton-of-church.html
Saturday, September 10, 2011. Hierarchy is the skeleton of the church". I don't get the benefit of going to a nice divinity college like Duke because I am not smart enough to hack it. I barely limped along as a Youth Ministry student at a small struggling Bible school in glorious Redding, CA. But I DO get the benefit of being married to a brilliant scholar who is currently attending Duke's Divinity program. There has to be some kind of order! And to that I nod and say, "Okay, here's an order that is appr...

In Search of Bavarian Sugar Cookies: March 2012
http://byrebeccaanne.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
In Search of Bavarian Sugar Cookies. Tuesday, March 27, 2012. This morning I went to Booty Camp. A few weeks ago, I made the decision to spend more money than is really necessary on exercise that is set up in a way that will make me want to go. Southside Booty Camp. Was my answer. I'm spending enough to spend two days at Disneyland in order to work out outside in a park that overlooks the Space Needle and the Puget Sound with a bunch of other women. So hopefully I'll feel better about this body of mine&#...

In Search of Bavarian Sugar Cookies: September 2012
http://byrebeccaanne.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
In Search of Bavarian Sugar Cookies. Monday, September 10, 2012. If I had a nickel for every post that started out with life and ended in death, I would be the richest girl in the world. or I'd at least have enough money to buy myself a diet coke. I will say all the right things everywhere else. I will be perfect everywhere else. I will keep it together for everyone else. But here, now, with you, I'm going to let it go. My dad is dead. I have thought forever that my father wouldn't live to walk me down t...
