NOT ROCKET SCIENCE: Two At Two
http://itisntrocketscience.blogspot.com/2014/12/two-at-two.html
Thursday, December 18, 2014. Tessie and Bridget will turn two in a couple of days, and most days lately I am just amazed that we have survived two years as twin parents. As toddlers, these two are a matched set of whirling dervishes, spinning around each other and bouncing off each other and squealing and reaching and needing. Most days it feels like parenting a pair of tornadoes. They are aware of their twin-ness - if you ask Bridget who her twin is, she says "Twin Tess! Is a familiar refrain. Tessie wi...

NOT ROCKET SCIENCE: Double Trouble
http://itisntrocketscience.blogspot.com/2014/02/double-trouble.html
Tuesday, February 11, 2014. When I was pregnant with the twins I was reading a book about parenting multiples, and the author said something like, "If you have twins and you think you'd like to go on to have another child afterward, get pregnant before your twins turn one, because afterwards you won't want to.". Now, it's hard. I would (most of the time manage to not) shriek. I JUST NEED TO PEE FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! Now, multiply that by two. And no it is not "two for the price of one," thanks, every ...

NOT ROCKET SCIENCE: July 2013
http://itisntrocketscience.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Monday, July 29, 2013. Here's some pictoral evidence of a typical afternoon for the twins together. Hey, Tessie, what do you think about waking up every hour to nurse tonight instead of every three hours? Check out this thumb! I'm talking to you! Friday, July 5, 2013. But seven years later, Nora is a lovely person. She has a tender heart and a consuming desire to please that worries me, sometimes (who is more dangerous to herself than a teenager eager to please? She never.stops.talking. Somet...

NOT ROCKET SCIENCE: Double Trouble
http://itisntrocketscience.blogspot.com/2015/01/double-trouble.html
Monday, January 26, 2015. Parenting twin two-year-olds resembles indentured servitude to a particularly illogical and tyrannical master. I realize this isn't exactly a revelation, but the observation helps me contextualize a particularly trying period. Mostly, it feels like I spend the day responding to a series of barked orders. The day might start a little like this when I enter their room. Tess: Lady bug over derr! Me: Tessie, would you like to get out of the crib? Bridget: Bridget out FIRST!

NOT ROCKET SCIENCE: Charlotte At Five
http://itisntrocketscience.blogspot.com/2014/03/charlotte-at-five.html
Wednesday, March 26, 2014. My middle child turns five tomorrow and I find myself with the rare opportunity to write something, so I'm choosing to ignore all the things I need to catch up on writing about and instead reflect on her five-year-old-ness. She is the "mediest" in the family (her word) and she delights in explaining how it's because Bridget and Tess are the youngest and Nora the oldest. She loves hearing stories of herself as this fat, grumpy little infant:. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

NOT ROCKET SCIENCE: September 2013
http://itisntrocketscience.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 3, 2013. The Best Parts of the Day. Waking up in the morning to see Charlotte sleeping next to me with her face all scrunched up and her thumb tucked in her mouth. When the babies wake up from their morning nap and I creep in to see them - Tessie wide-eyed, kicking with her entire body to show her enthusiasm, and Bridge peeking slying up with a big grin to show me she's squirmed most of the way out of her swaddle. Moving a work task off my to-do list and onto my secretary's desk. Finis...

NOT ROCKET SCIENCE: June 2013
http://itisntrocketscience.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html
Friday, June 21, 2013. Bridget and Tess - Six Months. Six months is a momentous age for our little ones, as it's marked by Mommy's first real absence. After about a week with the nanny they are doing fairly well. Tessie is still reluctant to take bottles but Bridgey is sucking back the ounces, and when I come home they both nurse like it was going out of style (which I guess it sort of is). March 30, 2014. We’re down at my parent’s house in Vero Beach, Florida for spring break and I LOVE hunting the local antique, thrift and consignment stores. I don’t mean to sound morbid but what do you think happens to the elderly’s furniture when they pass away? This was my find over Christmas break. I still have the coffee table and recently saw it on One Kings Lane for $650. This was our recent find for my parents soon to be new family room. Imagine lacquered in a navy or cream? March 29, 2014.
