Sunday, November 22, 2009. They have taken her to the clinic in Nagua numerous times, and each time the doctors run all sorts of bloodwork and analysis and can’t ever find anything wrong with her. The last time she went to the clinic, the doctor told her that it was a mental thing, a problem with anxiety, and they should take her to see a psychiatrist. While The Cat's Away. Don’t know how to properly give a charla and you’re not going to stay and listen to this disaster.”. A Frog Went A-Courtin'. I menti...

LR in the DR: Parent - "Teacher" Conference
http://lrinthedr.blogspot.com/2011/03/parent-teacher-conference.html
Tuesday, March 29, 2011. Parent - "Teacher" Conference. Here’s how the conference went:. As I enter the house, Pedro and his wife Johanny are yelling at each other. I knock and shout out “SALUDOS” to make my presence known in the hopes that they would calm down in front of me. Johanny told me to sit in the kitchen and they continued yelling at each other, so I just had to butt in. Lauren: Well I don’t really know the details because I’m not Arianny’s teacher. But –. Lauren: Ok, going back to the issue wi...

LR in the DR: December 2009
http://lrinthedr.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, December 16, 2009. After the English class, at 6:30 pm, we passed by Yaritza’s house. The party still hadn’t started! After the game, which lasted about an hour, they lights still hadn’t come back on. So we all gathered around the candles to eat a snack of two saltine crackers, a glass of soda and a lollipop per person (that’s a little different than the food at our American birthday parties, right? LR in the DR: January 2010
http://lrinthedr.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 4, 2010. Tomorrow I head back to the beauty and warmth of the Dominican Republic. While I am definitely not ready to leave the luxuries of America quite yet, I am ready to leave this cold weather. Right now (at 9 pm) it is 73 degrees in Santo Domingo. I just want to thank everyone who made the time to visit with me and hear about my travels; everyone who bought me a drink or dinner (or a bowl game ticket! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). LR in the DR. Remarks En Route: October 2007
http://remarksenroute.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html
October 25, 2007. Thing We Learned in Buenos Aires #2. If there's one thing Argentine people like to do, it's making out. Not that I know from personal experience, of course, but because they do it everywhere. They do it on street corners, they do it on the Subte, they do it in restaurants. Noisily, at that) and they especially love to do it in the park. Some couples choose to do it on the park benches, and others stop mid-stroll to suck face in the middle of the sidewalk. Lip-locked couples just in the ...

Remarks En Route: The C-Lo Has Landed
http://remarksenroute.blogspot.com/2007/11/c-lo-has-landed.html
November 29, 2007. The C-Lo Has Landed. Having a boyfriend literally hemispheres away is definitely not an ideal situation. If ours is not the epitome of a long-distance relationship, then I have no idea what one could be. Thanks to technology, however, it hasn't been as hard to take as it could have been. Between the invention of email, laptops, wireless internet, and now the glorious program Skype. The feeling of distance can be partially undone for a small pocket of time nearly every day. Though I gro...
