Saturday, May 2, 2015. Nine months into piano lessons and today was Maddy's first piano recital. No Mozart, mind you, but she continues to enjoy playing and seems to have made some good strides. In watching the other kids in her cohort perform, she is about where one could hope- not the best but better than many. At first, she was incredibly nervous, which was a bit of surprise given how confident she was at past dance recitals, but once she got up and played. She did a fine job! We are so proud of her.

Monday, June 15, 2015. The US. Open has come to Pierce County and Sean scored us some tickets. We're not really big golf fans, but this is such a unique experience that we were really looking forward to checking out the whole experience at Chamber's Bay. In celebration of National Poem in Your Pocket Day, we sent the Moo off the school this morning with a pair of Shel Silverstein poems in- you guessed it- her pocket. Apparently this is a day to honor and inspire a love for poetry. People are supposed to ask each other if they have a poem in their pocket and if they do, recite them to one another. Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Ready for day two at Disneyland. We actually got a pretty late start this morning. The kids were so wiped out from yesterday that we didn't make it into the park until 10:30. Still, nothing quite perks up a kid like the happiest place on Earth! A little Pirates of the Caribbean, a little lunch at the Blue Bayou. We totally loved the monte cristo sandwiches! Soaked on Splash Mountain. I might have fibbed and told Dorie that she wouldn't get wet. Oopsie! A girl after my own heart.
