Some Thoughts on the BBC Horizon Programmes “What’s the Right Diet For You? 8221; →. October 12, 2014 · 7:14 pm. Perhaps I’m being partisan when I say that English apples are the best, and the best of the best are those which were on the tree a few moments ago. My quince last year. My current garden is too cluttered to add apple trees, though I have tried in pots, including a Charles Ross, the same as I had as a child, but it’s not very productive as yet. Mellow fruitfulness at Daymens Hill Farm. To tast...

Some Thoughts on the BBC Horizon Programmes “What’s the Right Diet For You? 5:2 Grow Along Seed Choice – Courgettes →. March 19, 2015 · 11:27 pm. One of the favourite dishes in Kate Harrison’s 5:2 Facebook group. Especially on fast days, is courgetti , long strips of courgette either steamed, boiled briefly, or stir-fried. It takes the place of pasta and is delicious. I’ll be working on the principle of 2 square yards, one square yard will hold the courgette plant, the other will hold a wigwam of beans&#...

Nuts About Nuts →. October 2, 2014 · 11:08 am. Fat Hen Chenopodium alba. Fat Hen and Family. I took on an allotment last year, and one of the prevalent weeds is Fat Hen Chenopodium alba. Knowing that it’s giant relative Quinoa is used for pseudograins , I wondered if the seeds of fat hen were edible, but last year couldn’t find this out and when I asked the question on a forum, was warned off from trying them. James Wong on quinoa says that quinoa has saponins coating the seed which need to be removed be...

April 8, 2015 · 8:04 pm. 5:2 Grow Along Seed Choice – Courgettes. Go to the garden centre and you’ll be presented with a bewildering display of seeds from several suppliers. Open a seed catalogue, and the choice is even broader. The beginner gardener could be forgiven for buying the one in the prettiest packaging, or running from the shop screaming. So in this blog post I’ll tell you what I grow and why, and making other suggestions. The answer is a cop-out on my part: It depends. A couple of years ago I...

I thought I’d be able to add new posts on this page and keep all the reviews together, but I haven’t found how to do this. I shall put all future reviews on the main blog. Ed Debz Hobbs-Wyatt and Stephen Puleston. I was sent a review copy of this anthology. A Good Collection of Dark Crime Shorts. This is an anthology of twelve crime short stories, each by a different author, except for Don Nixon, who has two included. I liked the voice in Rat Trap. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Thursday, March 5, 2015. Now is the winter of our. Temps in the teens and below; winds like the Roaring Forties; clear roads and sidewalks that are ice rinks made so by wintry mixes, snow, rain, sleet or small chunks of ice (last Sunday afternoon). This winter has hit the gauge by which I measure bad winters: Your fingers don't feel cold without gloves when it's 32F. So until the sun of York decides to show his face and make glorious summer or 40F with no wind, here are some photos:. We Will Never Forget.
Crobyworks: June 2014

Sunday, June 15, 2014. I saw deer from my window for the first time this spring. I always see them in pairs. These two casually grazed the grass mown earlier in the week. I washed and wore the Diagonal Rib Socks this week. The Jackalope yarn has that perfect balance of softness (without being limp), roundness in the fibres, and twist. The socks were soft as butter on my feet. Links to this post. Sunday, June 8, 2014. Another Post about Socks. I finally finished the Diagonal Rib socks. YaY! Use stitch mar...

Thursday, February 19, 2015. Happy Lunar New Year and Welcome to the Year of the Wood Sheep. Toupie is coping well. He has the ottoman, the dresser, the armchair in the dining room and the futon as refuges from the cold floor. I give him warm water daily and keep the heating at 72F. He has avoided his usual perch of the bathroom rug this week. I think the tiled floor is just too cold. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Corrugated ribbing tricks and tips. Thursday, January 29, 2015. Disorganized Organization and Gusset Adventures. While awaiting the start of my next temporary assignment, I mentally went through my list of to dos, which consists mainly of things whose disorganization I find annoying. The rewards were immediate. New downloads are immediately saved in a folder. During one of my stash dives, I came across one of a pair of gloves I was knitting in Cascade 220. But what was the pattern? What I learned from knitting a pair of convertible mittens...

Crobyworks: First Pawing
http://crobyworks.blogspot.com/2015/01/first-pawing.html
Sunday, January 4, 2015. The New Year’s Day tradition here is that as the man of the house, aka Toupie, First Paws the apartment. He had a bit of a wander before returning this year. I gave him treats as a reward. I have finished the first 1861 Cottage Wrister. Once I figured out the issue with the stitch count during the increases, it was smooth sailing. The thumb is very natural looking, no gaps or pulled gusset stitches. What were they thinking? Http:/ www.taxamo.com/. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Ato...

Hollow Blown Lampworked Beads. The process for creating hollow beads is lampworking with a "twist". Instead of a solid mandrel, a hollow tube mandrel with a small blowhole drilled near one end is used. A release agent is applied to the tube covering the section where the hole has been drilled (making sure the hole is open) and sealing the tube end. The other end of the tube is sealed with putty.
