With the nights cooling off to the high 60's, the days staying in the high 80's and the humidity showing veeerrrry low, it feels like Christmas season has arrived in Niger. We are so thankful for these cooler days. It's amazing how refreshing it is to us and how much more energy we have. We played numerous fun games and musical chairs was the favorite. Christm...

Oh, the places you'll go...: September 2014
http://melissadorsch.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Friday, September 19, 2014. There's no place like it. As you know from previous posts, my Grandma lives in Bird City, Kansas. Bird City is in the very northwest corner of Kansas. It's very flat and lots of open spaces. Perfect for watching a beautiful sunset or sunrise! And for playing card games with Grandma Dorsch! I knew that when Joel came to visit, I absolutely wanted to take him up there to see Grandma and to let him discover the greatness that is found in Bird City. He was really excited too!

Oh, the places you'll go...: Worldwide Milk Day
http://melissadorsch.blogspot.com/2015/05/worldwide-milk-day.html
Wednesday, May 27, 2015. All I needed was a good excuse to blog again! Today was the day. International Milk Day. Or so I heard. For several years, I have wanted to visit the Agrilait milk factory just outside of Rennes - factory visits are so interesting! This particular plant only gives tours once a year, and last year I missed it, and have been looking forward to their open house all year! Today was the day. Joel and I were given disposable lab coats, booties and a shower cap and were ready to go.

Oh, the places you'll go...: andrew + joel + jon + uncle doug
http://melissadorsch.blogspot.com/2014/09/andrew-joel-jon-uncle-doug.html
Tuesday, September 16, 2014. Andrew joel jon uncle doug. I was thinking about this summer and in looking through some pictures, I realized that I had never really finished posting stuff about when Joel came to visit Kansas. Oops! After the wedding, and just a few days before going back to France, Joel, Andrew, Dad and I all went out to the field to see the guys baling. It all started with Casey getting the tractor stuck in some mud. And know that this was probably the only mistake he made all year. :).

Oh, the places you'll go...: February 2014

Friday, February 7, 2014. Different kinds of love languages. Remember the time when Jerem, Joel and I TPed our friends' apartment as a surprise GIFT for when they returned from their honeymoon? Did I ever tell you what they did as revenge? The gifts were a bit strange. A small package of needles "because I like to sew". Several garbage bags "because I like to keep things clean". Ear plugs for the future "because apparently Joel snores". There were balloons everywhere! But the story doesn't end there....

It's mango season in Niamey and the streets are lined with colorful displays of mangos.different sizes and different varieties. Some are raised locally and others are imported from neighboring countries. The vendors do a brisk market with people walking or driving by or taxis pulling over to allow their clients to buy up a dishful or two. The walking "Starbucks" was on h...

Oh, the places you'll go...: he asked me!
http://melissadorsch.blogspot.com/2014/11/he-asked-me.html
Wednesday, November 19, 2014. I haven't blogged in months, and then I am blogging about when I got engaged! It has been a couple of weeks already, and I am still giddy happy and starring at my beautiful ring, Joel gave me! I know the picture is blurry, but it's still one of my favorites. And after walking a long while, we got to this clearing next to the path and all of a sudden Joel goes, "oh look! He used to want to be an engineer! I said YES, of course, through tears in my eyes! I am so blessed! We sh...

Friday, November 15, 2013. Eggs paint canvas = new diy artwork! Danae, please add one more meal invite for me to our list this summer! For the past several weeks, every time I used any eggs, I carefully broke off just the top part of the egg, so as to save the rest of the shell. Why? Cause Joel and I were planning a crafty egg-shell painting date! When we finally had enough eggs, we filled them with paint, put a piece of masking tape over the top and prepared our canvas. It was tons of fun! We tried to c...
