MATT'S RANDOM STUFF: Speeding up Firefox
http://mattots.blogspot.com/2009/10/speeding-up-firefox.html
This is my dumping ground for thoughts, ideas, links and ramblings about everything and nothing in particular! Saturday, October 31, 2009. If you use Firefox and have found it slow starting up or laggy typing into the address bar, install the oddly named 'Vacuum Places Improved' add-on from https:/ addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/13878. After 'vacuuming', FF starts up in 10 seconds and typing into the address bar is fine. Just to explain - the extension doesn't delete anything, it just optimises t...

Going Loco: March 2013
http://going-loco.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Saturday, 30 March 2013. It's day 1 of York show. I'm up here with Tony and Richard and we're operating Clydach. It was a trek getting here. Due to the knock on effects of several accidents our 3 hour journey yesterday became 5.5 hours. Still, the layout went together quickly and is running well. As the picture shows, the public arr enjoying it and 3 or 4 deep is par for the course. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Iain Robinson - Modelmaking. Going Loco: February 2010
http://going-loco.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Monday, 22 February 2010. Chassis Building Part 37465. I was determined that I would build an engine in 3mm. Surely it can't be that hard! I've talked before about building a chassis and I thought I had it cracked when I got to adding the wire pickups. I put in on the stretch of track that is supposed to be a layout and it stuttered along so I thought it would bed in. It didn't. Now I have to break all the superglue that holds it together and see if I can correct it. Sunday, 21 February 2010. Popped in a...

Going Loco: April 2010
http://going-loco.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 21 April 2010. Temporary Pause in Modeling. I know I haven't posted for a while. I should have because there has been progress. I have made the quartering work on the Webb Coal Tank and I did spend a great day at Narrow Gauge South operating Richard Holder's new exhibition layout - Clydach Railway. Normal operations will resume later. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Iain Robinson - Modelmaking. The Model Railways of Chris Nevard's Blog. Didlow Down a 009 layout.

Going Loco: Christmas goal achieved!
http://going-loco.blogspot.com/2012/12/christmas-goal-achieved.html
Sunday, 30 December 2012. I set myself the goal of having something working over the Christmas break and I achieved it - for all of 2 minutes! The pair of wires that feeds a section I want to detect in is fed through a DBD22. The AIU is in place to take the output from the detector. The other piece of electronics is the UTP panel. The other board looks identical. And purchase some short circuit protection. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Iain Robinson - Modelmaking.

Going Loco: March 2010
http://going-loco.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, 7 March 2010. Yesterday was Abingdon Show. I'm not sure how they did. There were plenty of people queuing to get in right at the beginning but it never got to being heaving, which is actually a good thing. I was pleased with Mospick Halt which ran well all day. One nice lady described as lovely and clean. That just makes me want to make it dirtier :-). Just having a flat piece of track for the rolling road to sit on makes a huge difference. All I have to do now is cure why it waddles like a duck.

Going Loco: First Train Running
http://going-loco.blogspot.com/2013/08/first-train-running.html
Saturday, 10 August 2013. That's not bad for 2 weeks. It hasn't taken that much time. I'm trying to get a move on so the heavy work is out the way. So far I have. Removed all the scenery. Upgraded the legs to a quick release system I devised. Expanded the front of the layout to have a harbour. Laid nearly all he track. Wired up the track. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
