The Linear Legume

Sunday, 14 May 2017. So it is spring again. At long last. My peas that were hidden by critters at the allotment, have turned out to be sweet peas. I picked the first two last night after planting them in the garden last week. They smell divine. I put Walking Onions in the front garden last year, the first batch did indeed walk a few inches and both are now starting to form the top sets. Sunday, 18 December 2016. A new way of doing things. Whilst we were sorting out the first community garden that we took...

The Linear Legume: October 2012

http://linearlegume.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 31 October 2012. Good news - Turmeric. The summer of 2012 is salvaged.by two shoots of turmeric. I got these from a chum who got them from another chum who got them from Morrison's in South Wales. A traditional hubbub of exotic-ness don't you know. And yesterday - I thought I spotted a shoot. Thinking it was probably just a weed seed I didn't look. it was late, it was dark and I was tired. But this morning after a coffee [natch] I decided to take a peek and lo and behold - two shoots! I've bee...

The Linear Legume: December 2012

http://linearlegume.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html

Sunday, 30 December 2012. The Gertrude Franck bed. So it goes.Gert reigns supreme yet again. Same photos as the other blog but for slightly different reasons. So here, back home, once the wet clay has been asked off - are the spoils of today. I also got some leeks from Mark's Leek bed.grown from my own saved seed [Bleu De Solaise] from the perennial leek bed. Psthe good thing about the flooding was the sheer number of drowned slugs one sees whilst walking in wellies to the shed. Ha! The actual good news ...

The Linear Legume: Leek/garlic grass?

http://linearlegume.blogspot.com/2015/04/leekgarlic-grass.html

Sunday, 26 April 2015. So - I am only blogging new or interesting stuff, you don't want the same old nonsense each year right? So - new developments. My Leek/garlic grass. I seem to have bred a new thing. It has come from a bunching onion, which I think may have crossed with something else and the resulting well, result - is garlic grass. In the pics it is growing in amongst one of my garden beds, with nigella, Szechuan pepper, strawberries, parsley and poppies. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). As I w...

The Linear Legume: Summing things up and new to grow!

http://linearlegume.blogspot.com/2015/01/summing-things-up-and-new-to-grow.html

Saturday, 10 January 2015. Summing things up and new to grow! Well, what a busy year. I make no apologies, when things are busy you just have to knuckle down. So last year I only made a few significant posts on here. I'll put it on here once I have been awarded the qualification but for now, lets just say I'm looking forward to having some spare time again. I've been doing some supply work and spreading the word about food growing in schools. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Go Stay Work Play Live.

The Linear Legume: May 2014

http://linearlegume.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

Saturday, 31 May 2014. Garden Organic Members experiments 2014. This year, I thought I would have more time as I am not employed full time, but only now teach 2 1/2 days a week; but it seems I am busier than ever as running a business, getting new funding and designing and delivering new courses is a very time consuming job! I had signed up to do the members experiments and wanted to document them on here to remind myself to make the necessary records as much as anything. Firstly; the Biochar experiment.

The story of our garden, built from nothing; and the ever growing collection of pets we share our lives with. How I came to gardening. Monday, 30 April 2012. Another Gardening Confession time - It's So Embarassing . What have I achieved in the garden? Here we are, 2nd July,. And I cannot tell you a lie. I haven't sown any seeds at all. The story of our garden, built from nothing; and the ever growing collection of pets we share our lives with. How I came to gardening. Sunday, 31 July 2011. Or other small furry creatures). Popped down to the lottie on Thursday evening, ambitiously taking with me three carrier bags in which to bring back my bumper harvest of broad beans and yummy peas. Not one single pod of peas left, the little ratbags. I did manage to pick a bag of broad bans, so that was good. Monday, 11 July 2011. I'd done very littl...
