I've been going through my old sketchbooks, which is always an interesting exercise, and I came across this quote that jumped out at me when I was reading John Berger's essay "Courbet and the Jura" in About Looking. I am pleased to share that I have an exhibition of new work opening this coming weekend at the Line Gallery in North Bay. The exhibition is called Field. And features a new suite of drawings that is inspired by vintage topographic maps of Swiss glaciers and drawn studies of shells found along the Pacific shoreline. October 27 - November 17, 2012. Herein is a sharing of my creative process and experience in North Bay as Artist in Residence within the unique setting of a hospital through its ArtsHealth North Residency Program. The residency is from September 1 to November 11 2011. Sunday, October 16, 2011. I decided to paste the drawings together and create irregular shapes with the paper. I then covered these pasted drawings with a primer. The original bone drawings are mostly gone now but they serve as a ground for new drawings to emerge.
