Friday, June 1, 2007. 5 Memoirs of A Geisha by Arthur Golden. This novel is set in Japan in the 1930s and 40s. Chiyo is sold to a geisha house by her parents and eventually is trained and debuts as a successful geisha. Along the way, she describes, in a first person narrative, the lessons she learns about the art and also of the cruelty and jealousy involved in this exacting tradition. I enjoyed this too. but really it's not the 5th best book ever is it? June 14, 2007 at 3:10 PM. Number 4 - definitely.

Monday, 18 January 2010. Drawing to a close. It's been a busy last week here but not a lot to say. We've been hurried with last minute trips around the state to say hello to lots of people that we thought we had a lot of time to catch up with!
