I explore meaning through abstraction, in a dialog with what happens on the canvas. My approach is both subjective and rational. Using both intuition and basic geometry, with colors to convey spiritual vibrations and consulting the golden ratio to create a feeling of harmony. When a painter takes up brushes and applies paint to canvas or any other surface they are already in the domain of abstraction. Even figurative painting is an abstraction of the visible world, merely copying elements that we perceive of our surroundings. Purely abstract painting may not have clear references to the physical world, but the references are intrinsecly there, coupled with symbolic thought. Friday, January 15, 2010. Providence Park Mural Update. Oh boy. It's been exactly 3 months since my last entry. Not much of a "blogger" eh? Any-who.a bit of an update on the Providence mural projects:. 3 of the 4 murals are now complete.with the 3rd, Swirlendipity II, still hanging in my home while I work to finish the 4th, Heartistry. I hope to be at the grouting stage by next week though this mural is proving to be a bit more tedious than the others.time will tell. I'll post a few photos in a bit.
